Our newest team member, Katie, used to be my student years ago. I still remember her asking if she could work at the café one day, and I told her, “Maybe when you’re a bit older!”

It honestly feels like that conversation happened yesterday, but somehow four years have flown by… and here she is!

Watching students grow up and getting to welcome them back as part of our team is one of the most rewarding parts of being a teacher and a café owner.

Today we honour the fathers, stepfathers, grandfathers, uncles, mentors, and father figures who shape lives in quiet, powerful ways.

The legacy of a father is built in the everyday moments: showing up, working hard, offering guidance, making sacrifices, and loving through both words and actions.

Father’s Day can also be tender, complicated, and painful for many. For those grieving, longing, healing, or carrying mixed emotions today, I hope you find comfort in the people who have offered you protection, wisdom, support, and love.

To every father and father figure building a legacy one day at a time: thank you.
