Food Not Cops Guelph

Food Not Cops Guelph Food Not Bombs is a loose-knit group of independent collectives, serving free vegan food to those who are hungry.

Food Not Cops is a volunteer run organization that creates pay what you can vegan meals with proceeds donated to local BIPOC lead organizations and other community initiatives. Food Not Bombs' ideology is that myriad corporate and government priorities are skewed to allow hunger to persist in the midst of abundance. To demonstrate this (and to reduce costs), a large amount of the food served by th

e group is surplus food from grocery stores, bakeries and markets that would otherwise go to waste. This group exhibits a form of franchise activism by aspiring to reduce waste through sharing free food & free information in protest of war and poverty.

We apologize for the lack of communication regarding our hiatus. We are taking a break until further notice (probably spring 2021). We are taking this time to keep ourselves safe and rested, research, and plan for our future as an organization.

During our first few months we made and delivered nearly 200 meals and raised almost $2000 for local organizations working towards sustainable initiatives, land protection, and community care! Thank you to everyone who ordered meals, donated, and volunteered!

See you in 2021!

This week donations are directed to 1492 Landback Lane legal fund. On July 19 2020 Haudenosaunee Land Defenders stopped the housing development project of Mackenzie Meadows boarding the town of Caledonia and the Six Nations reserve. They continue to defend the land despite an injunction, and forceful removal of their people and allies from their land by the OPP. As stated on the 1492 Landback Lane legal fund page:

“These injunctions only serve as a colonial mechanism to dispossess us of our lands and resources, which fundamentally violates our rights as sovereign Indigenous people. We will remain at 1492 and hold strong. We urge you to donate what you can to assist us in our legal fund to support Land Defenders facing current charges and any future charges that may result from the numerous injunctions against us in this particular issue.”

26 people have been arrested in relation to 1492 Land Back Lane. 15 of those arrests have been in the past 6 days. Please donate directly to https://ca.gofundme.com/f/legal-fund-1492-land-back-lane and email your receipt to [email protected] or send it to us via instagram direct message
