Vocamus Writers Community present In Your Own Words XXI Literary Open Mic Series on Wednesday, July 29th @ 7:00 PM, at the Albion Hotel (a true landmark of Guelph).
The event will feature a reading by author Saren Keang.
She is an author of two books, A Long Way from Home and Beating the Odds: My Fight Against Bipolar and Kidney Failure. She is working on her third book which narrates stories of her mom versus hers showcasing two strong and resilient women from two different generations who support each other to get to where they are now.
Saren is passionate about women’s empowerment and girls’ education. She believes that when a girl is educated, the whole community benefits. Her main mission is to support other women. She is a member of Immigrant Women in Business and Guelph-Wellington Women in Networking and a co-founder of Dare and Dream Cambodia, a platform that provides online mentorship to rural Cambodian women with regards to finding scholarships, choosing a major in universities, preparing for job interviews, and setting career goals. In her free time, Saren enjoys reading, writing, colouring, and photography.
