Some orders mean a little more than others, & this one will always hold a special place in my heart🤍

Back in April, I sat down with a friend, Melanie & Paul to chat about their wedding desserts, thinking it might be a couple of treats. Little did I know they'd choose my largest package, & 75 individually wrapped cupcake favours!

But what meant the most was hearing that they'd been following along with my journey, celebrating the milestones & watching Jessica's Sweets grow. When they told me how much it would mean to have me be part of their wedding day, something just clicked. Five years into this business, through all the ups & downs, it was one of those moments that reminded me this is what I'm meant to do.

Getting to see Melanie in her wedding dress before the ceremony had me fighting back tears. Knowing her story & seeing her looking absolutely breathtaking, I was just so incredibly happy for her🥹🩷

Small business ownership comes with plenty of moments of doubt, but sometimes one experience reminds you exactly why you started. To Melanie & Paul, thank you for trusting me with such a special part of your day🤍

With Thanksgiving here, I figured it was the perfect time to take a step back from the chaos, lists, & the never-ending baking, & appreciate all the things that make this life so sweet🧡

From my family & friends, to my little sidekick Tisdale, getting to wake up every day & do something I genuinely love, there's a whole lot I don't ever want to take for granted. Even on the stressful days, when I'm questioning how I'm going to get everything done, I know how lucky I am to be doing what I do.

And to every single person who has supported Jessica's Sweets, whether you've placed an order, shared a post, recommended me to a friend, or simply cheered me on from the sidelines, THANK YOU😭🧡You help make this little business what it is, and I hope you know how much that means to me🩷🥹

A little piece of Mom is officially on the menu ❤️

Growing up, I was always in the kitchen with my mom. She taught me how to cook, bake & make things from scratch, just like she was taught growing up. One of the most important things she passed down to me was the value of family recipes & keeping those traditions alive from one generation to the next🫶🏻

This recipe is one we made together countless times, & because my mom means everything to me, bringing pieces of my family & our traditions into Jessica's Sweets has always been incredibly important to me.

There's always going to be a new trend, a new flavour or the next “big thing,” but I'll always believe there's something special about originality - creating things that are personal & meaningful. Trends come & go, but the things rooted in tradition & made with heart have a way of lasting👌🏻

So I'm bringing one of my favourite family recipes to Jessica's Sweets: a chocolate cake with chocolate fudge pecan frosting, available as a Bundt cake or cake bars. It's perfect for just about any occasion & without a doubt, my favourite cake.

And if you know me, you know I don't even like cake😂

But this one? This one is different.

It's a little piece of my childhood, a little piece of my mom, & now a little piece of Jessica's Sweets❤️

My toxic trait? Supporting small businesses 😂💗

And honestly, I wouldn't have it any other way.
I couldn't possibly fit every small business my family & I have supported over the years onto these slides. From grabbing a coffee, booking an appointment, buying gifts, trying something new, or simply choosing local when we can - supporting small businesses has always been something that matters to us.

I come from an entrepreneurial family, so I know just how much goes on behind the scenes of a small business. The long hours, the big dreams, the “holy s**t, people are actually buying my stuff” moments, & everything in between.

So yeah, I’ll happily call it my toxic trait 😂
Because every time you choose a small business, you're supporting a real person, their family, their dream, & something they've built from the ground up.

And as your local sweets dealer, you already know I’m always going to be a little biased toward the small business community💗🍰
