On this morning, 39 years ago…a wedding took place in a farm field…and here we are today…overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Our journey of 10,000 miles began on June 21, 1986 and continues… “To infinity and beyond…” Happy Anniversary, Thank you all for sharing, caring and helping us on the way.

Who remembers the rusty tangled metal vine mounted at the entrance to MarketSide Cafe? 35 years later it’s still adorning an entrance, only now it’s at our home in Nova Scotia by the sea. Four years on and the gardens are finally taking shape. Loving the journey and honouring our past. Tribute to John Padagapka, deceased, a fine blacksmith.

Dare to dream. Where once there were none, someday I envision hundreds! It’s not complicated. Snowdrops are a perfect harbinger of spring in these parts. Bring ‘em on.

Where once there were 2 pine trees, there are now 2 proud bollards. These trees were about 25 years old. They had been topped about 10 years ago and were actually pretty ugly. Also, they were blocking the light from a lovely maple grove. Unbelievable transformation…opening up the space. .heydenthomas is truly a master craftsman with a chainsaw. So delighted with the results. Letting the light in.

What a glorious day. Working outside in short sleeves on some table troughs for the holidays with a little help from our jolly friend. I know, I know….our turn will come soon for the mighty blast of winter….but today, here and now, I’m just fine with this weather.

Introducing Pico, our 10 week old Cairn Terrier. This was her first introduction to the ocean. Hmmm. She loved the seaweed but was a tad confused about the waves. What a clever wee lass and a bundle of joy. It’s been well over 20 years since we’ve had a dog in the family. She’s adapting to life in the Cove very quickly. So many rocks and crevasses to conquer. Och aye….

Oh ya baby…nothing much beats putting the gardens to bed for the winter than a layer of South Shore seaweed. Still gardening in late November and loving it.

Stop the press! Hellebore is blooming in November? Hellya! Mixed up; muddled up and otherwise confused. So we call this climate change, eh. Only in Canada.

A walk around the ’hood after Fiona. Beautiful lines of old dories telling their story of long ago. All is calm. All is bright. Weathering the tests of Mother Nature one day at a time.
