“It is with heavy hearts that we share the sudden and tragic loss that has forever changed our family. A young girl has lost her father far too soon, and her world has been turned upside down in an instant.

Right now, our focus is on surrounding her with the love, care, and support she will need as she begins to navigate life without him. No child should have to experience this kind of loss, and while we cannot take away her pain, we can come together to help guide her forward with strength and stability.

This fundraiser has been created to support her in the months and years ahead. The funds will go toward counselling services to help her process and heal, as well as sports, activities, and positive outlets that will keep her engaged, uplifted, and connected to a sense of normalcy. These opportunities will play an important role in helping her grow, build confidence, and continue forward despite the challenges she now faces.

Her father loved her deeply and wanted nothing more than to see her happy, supported, and thriving. In honour of that love, we are committed to ensuring she has every opportunity to continue building a life filled with joy, growth, and possibility.

As a family, we are grieving a significant loss, but our greatest priority is standing beside her—lifting her up, protecting her spirit, and helping her carry forward in a way that would make her father proud.

We are still To Be Determined BUT there are a couple things that are next that we do have the answers to now! 🐛

~ PARTIEZ! We love to celebrate with our community! We are passionate about continuing this but are working through the business side to figure out how exactly this looks & will hopefully be sharing in the near future. If you have party requests send me a message though & I would love to chat if we could meet your vision in your timeline before officially sharing full services! 🥳 Bounce houses will be no more though unfortunately! They are just too difficult with insurance but our other services will be similar to before!

~ Community connection! I am SO passionate about our community and especially our small business community! We have always done stop ins while supporting our small businesses/ nonprofits & we will continue to do this as well as post to bring awareness on our small businesses! I’m going to do a CliffNote for our big things happening these past 6 months as just like with Zaaz we’ve had a lot going on in our lives so below is our life update many have been requesting 💖

~ Taz was changed from methotrexate to Leflunomide for his rheumatoid arthritis due to side effects having too large of an impact on his daily living. Spent September- December with migraines, constant nausea, dizziness with exercise and joint pain. New med caused severe ear infection, beginnings of liver toxicity and gallstones. Arthritic meds stopped. Due to how things were handled by previous rheumatologist referred to new Rheumatoidology team at Children’s that we meet with this week! 🥳

~ I had a metal health leave due to multiple situations with 🚑 work but these are confidential. I returned to work which was an amazing return. I’m awaiting electrophysiology consults for replacing my pacemaker battery with possible change to a leadless pacemaker. A month ago I was taken off work again but this time due to medical from a TIA (mini stroke). This is all now undergoing investigation. 🫀 Since being off I’ve dived back in to online revenue streams and selling natural, gluten free products 🌱

~ My hubby, Josh fell off a 30 foot roof while working landing on his head with a miracle he didn’t have significant injuries. He was taken off work for a few months to undergo concussion therapy, physio & chiro. He is awaiting additional scan since for his lungs coming up soon.

~ Since things were going so smoothly our 8 month old puppy thought it a good idea to eat a Lug nut 🫣 Emergency surgery with no pet insurance was quite the hit last week. PSA the day you get a pup get the insurance 😬 We have a 6 grand lug nut now 😅

We’ve got a lot going on but we also have a lot of positive things happening in our lives everyday. We’re firm believers in happiness is in the journey not the destination and there’s always something you can do to have it be a good day so despite everything we are all doing good, individually and as a family. Just because there’s a lot happening doesn’t mean we have to let those situations impact us long term even if some days are harder than others 💜

~ We left the previous location in negatives after not receiving our full deposit back, construction, moving, employee labor and storage fees.
~ The 14,175$ raised by our community 🥹 was gone mainly already by the above.
~ Prior to signing this lease we did a 2,000$ hazardous survey, lawyer fee to review the lease with amendments & again moving costs
~ We did talk to the city prior to signing the least about the change of usage and were told there wouldn’t be any major concerns with this change
~32 thousand deposit for the new location
~ Flooring, painting, professional artist for window painting, signage for bottom of these windows plus outside signage, drawings of building by graphic artist, electrical, plumbing, hydro/fortis (3,000/month), contractors to help set up and pony wall, new toys, kitchen equipment, play structure, decor, Telus, security, HVAC, and I’m sure I’m missing something 😅
~ We finally get a response from the city that the plans they have for the location are 30 years old so won’t be approving anything until we have an architect draw new plans. 6,000$ which would’ve been 20 if ended up doing full scope of work
~ Immediately the architect when walking through stated we had much larger issues for opening than just new drawings of the space which included:
Handicap washroom plus additional washrooms
Additional exit out of the building
Updated electrical room
& Fire suppression system.
All these were quoted by multiple business to be a minimum of 500,000$ which at this point an additional 5,000$ would’ve been difficult.
~ This is when we entered the legal side with legal fees
~ The legal process is now closed and will not be going to trial. We will not lose additionally financially but we are also not receiving anything returned for what was put into the building when unable to operate our business at this location

It’s not the happy ending we all were hoping for but we are beyond thankful for the community we have built & the core childhood memories together 💖❤️‍🩹

We’ve had a lot of messages asking about some of the services we used to offer at Zaaz — and yes, a lot of them are still available!
Going forward, we really want to keep the party going with all of you.
We’re still renting out all of our party equipment (decor included!) and offer everything from setup to cleanup — so you can just show up and have fun.
Our rentals & services include:
Yard games
Balloon decor
Bounce houses
Chocolate fountains
Cotton candy machines
& so much more!

We are heartbroken our village is closed but comforted that there is now pieces of Zaaz throughout our community and within your homes now 🥹💜

Our beloved custom built & painted firetruck as well as train have found a new home with one of the local fire departments 🔥

Our magical castle will be showcased in a local churches youth room 🏰

The camper is now a place of adventure for a gentleman’s four grandchildren to explore ⛺️

We had tons of Zaaz favourite items go home with our kids of Kamloops so even though our new village can’t open they will still have at least a little piece of Zaaz home with them 🥰

A lot of our gift shop items have found their way all the way to the new once upon a child in Prince George! 🛍️

Over a dozen local daycares / after school programs have taken multiple pieces of Zaaz to their kids they care for 🐞🐝🦋

We donated hundreds of free items to our beloved mamas 4 mamas community 🍼

We donated a large portion to a local family who suddenly lost their home to make their recovery just a little bit easier ❤️‍🩹

Supporting our community just as much as you’ve supported us means the world to us 🫶🏽 Personally, being able to lighten the struggle of other families even if just by a little bit is very important and comforting for me. Thank you for everyone who came out or reached out for a favorite piece of Zaaz to join your family or somewhere in the community 🥰

We have been seeing some comments circulating about people believing it wrong of us to keep the GoFundMe money as we now wont be reopening a new location for the community. We want to ensure that our valued village is aware that if you feel wrong by this you can contact us with proof of receipt for us to double check on our end for a refund.

It is very clear these comments aren’t from people who personally donated but want to ensure if the people who did support us feel this way that they are aware they can contact me.

To give a bit of reference, when we did this we raised $14,175 and of that $4900 was won prizes donated from businesses in our silent auction or items from our gift shop. A large portion was also donated here by close family & friends. I am forever grateful for every single donation that was given to help us, we never expected any help with this or the outpouring of love for our business.

To also give reference to where this money has gone. We knew the business likely wasn’t viable on Mount Paul right after the red bridge burnt down. We were down 30% the next day and never came back up, we lost nearly all delivery sales because of the extra 40minute delivery time or now completely out of people’s driving radius’s and lost employees because they relied on the bus also with guests. We continued trying to find a way for 5 months while losing a significant amount monthly to keep Zaaz there. The lease there is nearly the same as it is here approx 25 thousand per month including basic bills to operate. We returned their building to a better condition that we received which cost approx 50,000$ including moving everything and storage. Our damage deposit plus first months rent to secure this location was 32,000$ and an additional early 70,000$ has gone into this new location to date… this isn’t including the debt we still have a long way to pay for the start up costs of the original Zaaz with kitchen equipment, construction, and everything you’ve seen in the village. None of this includes potentially what can happen financially with a lease break now.

This Sunday at 380 Victoria street we are having a huge garage sale! October 26th, we will begin letting people in at 9 until there is no longer any items to purchase. We will share a photo once we have everything set up for an idea of what to expect but there is a LOT of items!

A huge portion is toys! Every theme you could think of, new in box (we bought quite a bit expecting to be open right now 😅), good and used condition.
There’s also going to be things such as;
~ Shelving
~ Reno type materials such as flooring, paint, baseboard, cabinets, etc.
~ Crafts / art supplies
~Games
~ Dishes
~ Items sold in our gift shop (all new)
~ Baby bouncers, tummy time mat, toys
~ Dining tables, benches, mini couches
~ Toy activity centres such as cashier stands, play kitchens
~ Gaming chair, decor chairs, nursing chair
~ Cleaning supplies
~ Restaurant/ kitchen supplies - stand mixer, small appliances, dishes
~ SO many books 😅
& I’m sure more as we make our way further through closing our doors today.

Cash & E-transfer is all that will be available for payment as our sales system has already been disconnected. Please bring your own bag!

A lot of people have asked us to do a gofundme again but we just don’t feel right about it when not being able to open a new location with it. If you have been looking to help us financially through thing we ask that you come Sunday and donate that way while also being able to take home a little piece of Zaaz with you 💜pay haalready
