For lots of you, our newest team member needs no introduction! The folks who recognize Carly are delighted to see her behind our counter, and the ones meeting her for the first time quickly understand why we hired her.

Carly is our summer student. She’s sixteen, a newly licensed driver, a crackerjack soccer player, and we knew from her interview that she was the one. She learns quickly, loves this place as much as we do, and has great ideas of how to make it even better.

She already feels like part of Rosefinch, and we want her to never leave us!

Happy Monday, South Shore! Last week we hosted two separate film shoots, three sets of guests in the camper, a thrilling visit from the Bookmobile, and folks from all over for Afternoon Tea.

What will this week bring? I guess we'll see! But we know that it will include Fairie Squaries and chocolate chip cookies by birds thatgo, and roast broccoli and cheddar quiche and creamy tomato soup by Haritha.

So come have a visit with Wake, a bite to eat, a browse of our shelves, or some time in the hammock under the apple tree. We'll save you a seat. ❤️💛

Other restaurants use AI in the food pictures, and we think the results are so weird. We've seen tea sandwiches that disobey the laws of physics, cheeseburgers wearing Elizabethan neck ruffles of lettuce, and shrimp that look more like croissants.

When we upload our tea tray photos to make ads, Facebook always tries to "enhance" the images with AI (even making a case for why its edits are improvements).

This is a recent suggestion, what do you think? Would you be more likely to make a reservation if you thought Haritha was going to pour the tea all over the food after he delivers your tray?

On Friday July 10th from 1:45 to 2:45pm it will be our inaugural time hosting the Bookmobile!! Come browse, pick up your holds, sign up for a library card if you don't have one, and just be excited that there are library services here for the first time in (I think?) more than 17 years!

To make the day even more magical, Miss Heather will be performing songs and stories under The Story Tree (the huge apple tree in our community garden) from 2:15 to 3pm! Bring any little ones in your life!!

The best afternoon of your summer might be at the end of Exit 17A.

Book here: https://rosefinch.co/products/afternoon-tea

Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, we serve full afternoon tea at Rosefinch: three tiers of treats, a pot of tea for each guest, and a meal that delights nine year olds and ninety year olds equally.

This season's tray conjures an elevated summer picnic. There is an apricot and gruyère scone, a pulled pork and street corn sandwich (jackfruit for vegetarians), and a meringue cookie with mango filling. Plus six other sweet and savoury treats you will be thinking of for the rest of your day. Don't worry, we have takeout boxes!

The experience suits almost any excuse to sit down. A long-overdue catch-up. An unhurried afternoon date. A raucous couple of hours spent with your most trusted comrades.

Or just you and a book and a sunny window perfect for daydreaming.

Come visit our lovingly restored 1850s general store. It's where neighbours come to collect their mail, browsers come for whimsical gifts, and people who meant to pop in for a minute sometimes end up staying all day.

The perfect road trip destination, Port Medway sits between Bridgewater and Liverpool. You'll find rugged coastline and peaceful coves, a country music museum in an old church, the best plant selection in Queens County, and a books-and-records store that stocks everything from Truman Capote to Taylor Swift.

Afternoon Tea is $30 per person, Friday to Sunday.

Reunited and it feels so good!! Our trusty old espresso machine called it quits at the end of June, and we have felt horrible about disappointing our latte-seeking customers the past couple of weeks.

The machine made a triumphant return today, thanks to The Breakfast Outfitters (who drove it to Halifax) and Coffee Tech Services (who did the repairs over the weekend and brought it back)!

It is working better than ever, and Jenn N thinks we need to give it a name in celebration. I think this is a great idea! So please drop your suggestion in the comments, and come see us for a flat white or cappucino!

Wake is up front today, Annanda is in the kitchen, and the heat is no longer trying to kill us! This is great news, because the garden is ready and waiting for anyone who would like to take an iced tea into the shade of the apple tree.

In the case today: cinnamon rolls, broccoli cheddar quiche, breakfast muffins, cookies, treats, and all manner of delicious reasons to come see us. We’ve also got deli sandwiches on house-made focaccia if you are looking for something lunchier, and soup will be along shortly thanks to Annanda’s kitchen magic.

Come say have a snack, sit in the garden or stay inside and browse the shelves. We’re here at 1615 Port Medway Road until 5pm!

Next time you are in Port Medway, follow the path in the backyard. At the end, you will find a project two years in the making: The Story Tree.

I have been obsessed with this majestic apple tree since our first trip to Port Medway, even when the area underneath was a nightmare of stinging nettle and goutweed.

Now, thanks to the hard work of Rebecca Cross last year and Beck Marie this year, this is now a lovely spot to daydream in the shade, read a book, have a picnic, listen to birds, or catch up with friends (hammock chats are the best chats!).

We are also looking forward to using the area as a backdrop for community events! The name "The Story Tree" comes from a song written by our beloved Heather Stevens, who will be performing as Miss Heather as often as we can convince her to. Watch this space for those announcements once these heat warnings end.

What would you most like to see happen in this lovely spot? Do you have an idea for a charming and whimsical performance or gathering? Reach out and let us know!

If you are looking for lunch, we've got this carrot leek and parmesan quiche, a smokey tomato soup, and deli sandwiches on house-baked focaccia that a customer told us was the best he'd ever had!

When it comes to sweets we have a cookie trio of espresso chocolate chip, mango and white chocolate, and lime and blackberry thumbprint.

Come see us at 1615 Port Medway Road, we saved you a seat! 💛❤️
