Our passion for food and hospitality rooted in our Pashtun culture motivated us to start "Khyber Chrasi BBQ" six weeks ago. We specialize in North-western Pakistani cuisine from Peshawar perfected while making these items during EID celebrations for family and guests back home. All our recipes and cooking methods are similar to what you'll find in the Khyber and Peshawar region of KPK (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa).

We take only limited pre-orders in advance from Monday till Friday afternoon and prepare each item/order fresh for pickup on SATURDAY between 2PM - 6PM from Milton.

Our menu includes:

--> Shinwari/Charsi Lamb Karahi ($19.99 per lb)
--> Namkeen Lamb Tikka ($21.99 per lb)
--> Lamb Dampukth ($14.99 per plate)
--> Kabuli Pulao ($9.99 per plate)

We tried Peshawari Chicken Karahi and Lamb Karahi from a famous highly rated restaurant in Mississauga, hoping that the food would be good. However, to our total disappointment, none of the items were distant close to Peshawari style. If people haven't tried the real/authentic Peshawari food, how would they even know or tell if its authentic or not. 😕😦😟

'Patty tikkay', a specialty of Landi kotal region in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), has three ingredients; liver, caul fat and salt but it takes years of practice and patience to make it.

Cultural appropriation of food takes place when a dominant culture profits from exotifying and commercializing cuisine from a non-dominant community and that's what's happening with Peshawari cuisine here in Ontario.

FYI Karahi Boys Karahi Point Lahore is famous for Butt Karahi and Arif Chatkhara but not for Namak Mandi Karahis. You may call your items Namak Mandi inspired as a selling tactic but naming them after Peshawar and Namak Mandi while changing the original recipies and ingridents is actually food appropriation. And, when restaurateurs take cultural foods and modify them, they disrespect the culture.
