I am back, and my admiration for tea has not abated; life has just been really busy.
Let's continue on our journey for tea.

Did you know?

After the O***m War, Britain began spying to learn more about tea. Robert Fortune, a Scotsman, was sent to China to discover everything he could about how tea was grown and produced. He even smuggled live tea plants out of China for his mission. In many ways, he was as daring as any spy working for the British Empire.

With this foundation laid, Britain was able to import from its own colonies in Assam, the North East of India, and Ceylon (now Sri Lanka). China was now relegated to more specialty teas and to sharing the world stage of tea with other countries; more countries would later join in tea production and distribution as hunger grew for this exquisite liquor (liquor, the fancy name given to steeped tea by tea sommeliers).

As tea's popularity grew, new industries soon emerged. The Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company grew and eventually became a major grocery store. Its beginnings were all about tea, and you might know it as A&P.

By the early 1900s, tea became affordable for most people, more widely available, and in high demand. Continuing the trend, Americans again played a major role in making tea popular, drawn to its unique and varied flavours.
