This is Dan. I don't want to dwell forever on what's happened, but I feel the town deserves an explanation. When I bought the business in January, I was under the impression I had a five-year lease on my spot. My old business partner owned the building. I'll accept responsibility for our staffing issues; although every industry across the globe is suffering with similar issues. There's no doubt we could have used more hands in the team. But I spent thousands to make improvements, and put a lot of pride into the Tavern. I accept the responsibility for the recent closure, which was to be temporary. Then, I found out two weeks ago that today was to be the last day, at noon, because my lease had been terminated.
So I've been getting as much as what I own out of the bar before it became property of the new owner today.
I'm bitterly disappointed in what I thought was a verbal agreement changing without my knowledge as far as my lease. I'm heartbroken to have been possibly the final owner of an iconic bar in town. And I'm sorry to everyone that's been in my bar, and misses The Tavern like me, for what's happened.
Now it's time to move on and get ready for my next venture. As the song goes, "Nobody gonna break my stride, nobody gonna hold me down, oh no, I've got to keep on movin'."
