A story from Nurture Café — where food meets first chances.

She stood quietly behind the counter. Apron tied. Eyes scanning the room.
Today was her first shift.
Her first job in Canada.

For six months, she applied for work. No calls. No interviews.
Today, she served a customer beef barley soup and iced tea.
When the customer smiled, she smiled back—and whispered,
