After the prep, plating and finishing touches, Chef Ric and the team took a moment with some of the dishes they had just prepared for a catering event.

It’s easy to see the finished food. What you don’t always see are the hours of work, coordination and attention that happen before everything is ready to leave the kitchen.

There is slicing, assembling, organizing and making sure every item is ready to go.

For students in The Food Services Training Program, preparing grab-and-go items is a chance to practice consistency, organization and attention to detail in a working kitchen.

Could you teach the next class?

Chef Matt of the restaurant Tredici recently joined students in The Food Services Training Program for a classroom session, sharing his time and industry experience with the group.

Guest chefs bring something to FSTP that you cannot get from a textbook: their own perspective, experiences and lessons from working in the industry and we’d like to welcome more of them.

If you’re a chef or food-service professional with something you’d be interested in sharing with our students a technique, an area of expertise, or simply what you’ve learned along the way we’d love to hear from you.
