Happy Black History Month!
This month reminds me how important it is to celebrate simply being here — still standing, still building, still believing in what’s impossible can be made possible.
I’ve learned a lot since coming to Canada in 2001. Some things were hard. Some things weren’t. But none of it was wasted. Every challenge teaches you how to move differently — how to jump, sway, lean, and keep going when obstacles show up in your path.
Life will put hurdles in front of you.
Business will test your patience.
Systems won’t always be fair.
But strength is learning how to move forward anyway.
Especially when you have people watching you.
Especially when you have children, family, or community looking to you as an example.
That’s why celebrating your existence matters.
Not loudly.
Not angrily.
But honestly.
Because every time you choose to stand tall instead of back down, you make the road a little clearer for the next person behind you.
Black history isn’t only about the past.
It’s about how we live now.
How we treat each other.
How we face obstacles.
How we keep hope without losing ourselves.
Here’s to resilience.
Here’s to growth.
Here’s to moving forward together.
And yes — we’re celebrating with food too.
Wings n Things this Thursday. Come eat, relax, and share some good energy.
