Our June Special Exhibition is a little different this month. This is not just an exhibition. This is an album release. Join us June 11th 7-10pm for a self-guided immersive listening experience. One night only! Free to attend.

BLEACH is PARTYGIRL’s second album, exploring the identity, desire, and eroticism of the aftermath; the consequence. A murky and delicious blend of experimental and industrial pop, BLEACH challenges our cultural fixation with toxicity and sanitization as it relates to love, desire, and beauty. The opening track, MY BODY IS A WORLD, is a cinematic soundscape of undesirability as it oscillates violently between vengeance and calm. Over the course of the 8 remaining tracks, PARTYGIRL submerges body, mind, and heart into the chemical bonds and trauma bonds that keeps us toxic and sanitized.

Work from Contributing Artists (CoBlou, Naive Fanatic, and Jacob McGillivray) will be up all month long.

PARTYGIRL is a multi-disciplinary artist and performer. Born on the eve of a birthday party here at Art House. A delicate underground moment of party and partygoer as performance art. Shortly thereafter they were commissioned by Art House TV (a Factor funded digital series) to create a web series based on this experience titled HELP ME PARTYGIRL! A psychic call-in show that would begin PARTYGIRL’s exploration of sound and music production. In 2024, in the midst of a break-up, moving out of their shared home, and quitting their job, they decided to make an album. BOKKIE was a way of processing their losses and tracking their progress as they endeavoured to learn electronic music production. Each track is in the order it was made. Largely unmixed, it contains the rawness of committing only to what you have in the moment.

Join us at the Art & Mortality Death Cafe on June 21st

Doors at 5:30 PM , Event at 6 PM
Entrance to the event is by donation. Donations can be made on the ticket link in our bio

A Death Cafe is an event where people, often strangers, are invited to enjoy tea, cake, and discuss death. The Death Cafe model was developed by Jon Underwood and Sue Barsky Reid, based on the ideas of Bernard Crettaz.

Art & Mortality Death Cafe is going to be run out of The Art House. While there is no set agenda, guests are encouraged to bring art supplies to work on projects or express their thoughts visually.

Pasalubong Death Care is running this event for free, and donations will be going towards covering venue costs. Our goal is to encourage people to connect with others, express their grief, and learn more about themselves, mortality, and their community. Death Cafes are not a replacement for grief or bereavement therapy. If a person is unwilling or unready to talk about death, this is not the event for them.
This event is meant to be transient and confidential.

Only 1 week left to get your tickets for the Sunday Songwriters show featuring Joshua Isaac, June Wood, and Hercules

June 7 - Doors at 7:30 PM , Show at 8 PM
Get your tickets through the link in our bio or through the event page of our website

Three distinct Ottawa songwriters come together for an intimate night of emotionally driven live music. Expect a night of heartfelt songwriting, strong voices, and performances that move between quiet intimacy and explosive emotional release.

Hercules is known for her versatility and range in both voice and in her songwriting. With dynamic range from powerful belting to breathy and sweet, she sings from her heart. She creates music in all kinds of styles but mostly with a somber alternative sound to best present her storytelling lyricism. Driven by a genuine love for music, she continues to experiment with new styles.

June Wood, poet turned folk singer wears the influence of the Ottawa folk country scene on their sleeve. A bonafide troubadour, June grew up immersed in the language of cowboys and heartsick wanderers. June’s writing is melancholic and conversational focused on changes and the people who stick around long enough to notice. Having spent hours busking the streets of Ottawa June has crafted a distinct voice primarily building from traditional country and folk music.

Joshua Isaac is a solo piano/vocal act delivering narrative, piano-driven alternative built on dynamic tension and release. He is known for his powerful vocals as well as piano skills which allow him to move from controlled emptiness to explosive, cinematic climaxes. He blends power and restraint with emotionally-gripping songwriting and lyricism to perform music that stays with you long after the show.

CKCU Presents: Matt Gower - Vacated Shapes Album Release Show
Featuring Libby & Cal

Vacated Shapes is Matt Gower’s second solo album. The songs on this LP reflect Matt’s Hard Folk aesthetic, with themes such as gender fluidity, anti-fascism, depression, his own shortcomings as a husband & father, murder, imperfection and apathy. Taking equal influence from BruceSpringsteen’s Nebraska and Jason Isbell’s Foxes in the Snow, Matt was inspired to produce Vacated Shapeswith a minimalist ethos in order to let his songwriting and raw emotion shine through loud and clear.

Matt Gower is a Hard Folk singer-songwriter from Ottawa, Ontario. Over the years, Matt has embodied the folk tradition by blending an array of styles into his music. Elements of alt-country, old-time Appalachian tunes, bluegrass, and roots-rock underscore a powerful voice that’s vulnerable, honest and dynamic. Nothing about Matt Gower’s songwriting is “easy”. The truth, technique and talent he’s come to embrace are all hard-earned.

Libby & Cal: A Millennial autoharpist meets a Boomer 12-string player, and musical magic ensues. Ottawa-based acoustic duo Libby & Cal tackles subjects that are rarely voiced in song. Their songwriting is irreverent and poignant, and catches you off guard in a good way.

They have played at various venues in Ontario and Quebec, as well as the 2025 California Autoharp Gathering. Together they have three albums and counting: Our Lady of Perpetual Hammer in 2021, If You've Given Up on Love, Then Let's Call it Something Else in 2022, and The Hagstrom-Schmidt Affair in 2025.

Austin Camp is an Ottawa based singer-songwriter whose music blends the raw honesty of emo with the intimacy of folk. With a voice that shifts between hushed tenderness and strong emotion, Austin writes songs that lean into vulnerability, opening a space for the heavier parts of life. Drawing inspiration from artists like Medium Build, City & Colour, and Pinegrove, his sound balances melancholy with warmth, inviting listeners into stories of reflection, love, loss & connection.

Based in Ottawa, Acadian singer-songwriter Julie Stella (she/her) describes her music as moody, sad girl vibes. Some might describe her songs as nostalgic, while others might say they’re heartbreaking. She writes songs to dig through the complex layers of growth, grief and healing. Julie was influenced by many artists, including Alanis Morissette, Fiona Apple, Chantal Kreviazuk and The Cranberries.
