I have some news to share and it sucks.
Gamerz Café will be closing its doors on Nov 1st.
Two years ago, Nova, Anas and I decided to change from being a card shop to a board game restaurant and café. We wanted to become a place for people of all walks of life to gather and enjoy everything tabletop gaming had to offer.
We absolutely made the right decision at the time, the place was packed in February, a notoriously dead month for restaurants and we were excited what that would mean for this summer. But no one predicted that coming together and playing games would put people’s health at risk. That our business would be the exact wrong business for the times.
There’s no telling when things are going to go back to normal, or if they ever will. Seven months in and cases on the rise, I think there’s going to be a new normal and that’s not what Gamerz Café was built for.
On the bright side, the last few years have been amazing. There’s no value I can place on seeing so many people enjoy the work we did. I feel blessed to have been part of a business that could so easily transform customers into friends.
That being said, we’re not out for the count just yet. We are going to be downsizing our operations and restructuring our business to better fit the current state of the world. Stay tuned for more news about that.
Regardless of how we plan to come out of this, we’re going to need some funds. So, everything in store is on sale! The details of the sale will be announced shortly.
With that in mind, I will be at the store until the 1st; 3 PM to 8 PM, Wednesday through Sunday. So, if anyone wants to stop by, say hi, chat and reminisce you are more than welcome.
Thank you for everything,
- Nik
