Good morning. There is a black bear on the east side of the Sanctuary. In order to give it the space it needs and to keep the public safe, we have closed the 4 km Wishart Trail. Alberta Fish and Wildlife has been notified, as has The City of Red Deer Parks.

Please, DO NOT COME TO SEE THE BEAR. Bears are wild animals, that should not be disturbed or interacted with. If our trail cameras capture images and video, we will share them with you. What the animal needs is space, and time to move on.

We will notify Red Deerians when the trail reopens.
