Dining at the Saskatoon Station Place is a historical step into the past where people from all over the world have come to enjoy our hospitality, as well as our fantastic cuisine created by our Master Chefs! The doors were first opened in November of 1984 by the Arvanitis Brothers, who created the thematic railroad concept of this unique and stylish establishment. You will notice throughout the re

staurant a number of priceless heirlooms that a renowned antique dealer from Toronto collected over a six year period. In 2004, our 20th anniversary, the building was expanded. A larger, more elegant entrance and foyer were constructed to offer added comfort to our arriving and departing patrons. A new wine cellar to the left of the foyer displays our extensive selection of domestic and imported wines. As our guest approach the main entrance they can see on of many of the restaurant's timeless possessions ~ an authentic English gas street lamp form the 1880's, which has now been converted to electricity. Next, the main entrance doors, which are antiques as well, dating back to the 1800's and are adorned by door handles that once graced the entrance of the Queen's Hotel in Montreal. The lobby offers a good vantage point for guests to observe many of our beautiful antiques. The grand staircase leading to the upper floor boasts an authentic banister and posts originally from New York. To the left of the staircase one can see an old, wooden phone booth of the same origin. Straight ahead on the main floor, in the middle of the dining room, a genuine English street clock, also from the 1880's, is a beautiful example of the Victorian era it belongs to. Notable are the many light fixtures suspended from the ceiling in this part of the building, all of which are very old. The copper and gold chandelier just past the foyer bears a stamp of authenticity dating this piece to the 19th century. Immediately behind this clock there is another chandelier made of pewter which was originally gas operated and has 16 arms that have valves once used to turn on and off the gas supply. To the left hangs a large, ornate mirror which graced the wall of many homes throughout Europe before arriving here. It is a wonderful piece, crafted in the 1700's, and although its origins were traced to Italy, is known that later on, this lovely piece hung in the noble homes of English and Scottish aristocrats. On the Southwest wall one can see another interesting piece ~ a symbolically historical English crest and a genuine 1800's work of art. The design itself came from a ball held for Queen Victoria. Perhaps most impressive of all, are the C.N.R. dining cars that are annexed to the building and offer diners a real glimpse into the past. One can imagine the noble and wealthy travelers that dined in these over a century ago. The benches in the lounge dining car are the original from the C.N.R. It is worth noticing the various authentic fixtures that accent the decor of the cars, such as the colorful stained glass window and the solid brass hat racks and molded table legs. One of our most prized antiques is located in the upper dining room ~ a genuine, hand crafted Tiffany light fixture from the 1800's. This rare treasure is suspended from the ceiling and adds colorful splendor to the entire upper floor. Also upstairs, there are a number of interesting wall hangings. One is of the "Last Spike". This picture portrays the completion of the Transcontinental Railroad which took place between North Dakota and Montana in July of 1869. Another interesting print is an original map of the CP rail line used during the 1800's. The Station Place lounge is in itself an interesting experience. As one walks into the lounge area to the the left one sees the attached railway car and to the right a magnificent bar that is make of hand carved mahogany wood and stand 20 feet high and 28 feet long. Beautiful stained glass and an antique Italian marble countertop enhance the bar's elegance. The area is brilliantly lit by four antique chandeliers, which were brought from New York. Just past the bar is the games room, where modern meets old. Here patrons can enjoy their favorite television events on a plasma screen television, as well as games of chance. Thank you for your interest and patronage, and we hope to be serving you on our 40th Anniversary.

Did you know? Traditional Greek Salad has no lettuce or greens in it. It's a salad made with tomato, cucumber, olive oil, olives, and feta. The addition of lettuce in it is a very North American take on the salad!
