🌺 What makes a REAL Hawaiian Pokē? 🌺

One of the questions we get asked most often is...

*"Why is your pokē served so simply?"*

The answer is simple: because that's how it's eaten in Hawaiʻi.🤙

Traditional Hawaiian pokē isn't meant to be buried under dozens of toppings, sauces, crispy onions, avocado, cucumbers, tomatoes, or whatever else has become popular over the years. The fish is the star.😉

Authentic pokē is all about high-quality, fresh ahi tuna, cut by hand and lightly seasoned so you can actually taste the fish. It's simple, fresh, and deeply rooted in Hawaiian culture. Which is why we choose to fly our Tuna in fresh.

At Aloha Modern Kitchen, we choose to stay true to those roots. That's why our Aloha Pokē is served in a crispy rice cracker bowl—letting the tuna shine exactly as it should.

Looking for something a little more filling? Our Pokē Plate Lunch is another authentic Hawaiian favourite, served with two scoops of rice and our house-made Hawaiian macaroni salad, just like you'll find throughout the islands.

Yesterday was one for the books. 🌺❤️

For Father's Day, we had the pleasure of welcoming **over 200 guests** through our doors. 🤯🙏

Our kitchen was busy serving up our special **Surf & Turf Feature**, complete with a rich red wine peppercorn demi-glace that we're still dreaming about. 🤤🥩🦞

But more than anything, we want to take a moment to recognize our incredible team.

No matter how busy the restaurant gets, they continue to amaze us. They work tirelessly through the craziest shifts, support one another, and somehow always manage to keep a smile on their faces. We are beyond grateful for every single member of our Aloha family. ❤️

And of course, a huge thank you to all of our amazing guests.

To all the dads, families, and friends who chose to celebrate Father's Day with us thank you. We saw so many familiar faces and welcomed so many new ones, and it truly means the world to us that you chose to spend such a special day at Aloha.

As a small family-owned restaurant, your support never goes unnoticed. Every reservation, every meal, and every kind word helps us continue doing what we love.

🐟🌺 TODAY IS FRESH POKÈ DAY AT ALOHA 🌺🐟

If you've ever wondered what makes our pokè different, this is it...

Every Thursday, our Ahi Tuna is flown in fresh & arrives the very same day. In fact, when conditions allow, the fish is caught early that morning and on a plane headed our way by noon. ✈️🌊

And before anyone asks...

❌ We don't do frozen tuna.
❌ We don't keep weeks worth of inventory.
❌ We don't serve last week's fish.

Once our fresh pokè is sold out, it's gone until the next shipment arrives.

That's why some weeks you may see us sell out early and we're okay with that. We'd rather serve the freshest fish possible than compromise on quality.

When the whole tuna arrives, Chef Joel personally breaks it down in-house before it becomes the pokè you've come to know and love. 🔪🐟

For a restaurant in landlocked Calgary, we're incredibly proud to offer a product this fresh. It's not the easiest way to do it, but it's the right way.

Fresh.
Never frozen.
Limited every week.

🌺 THIS IS POKÈ THE WAY WE FELL IN LOVE WITH IT IN HAWAII 🌺

One of the biggest things we noticed during our time living on Maui was that no matter where we went, a backyard BBQ, family gathering, beach day, birthday party, or celebration there was always pokè.

And not the pokè bowls most people think of.

In Hawaii, pokè isn't hidden under rice, vegetables, toppings, and sauces.

The pokè IS the star of the show. ✨

It's served simply, traditionally, and meant to be shared family-style around a table with the people you love.

Inspired by those memories, we've created our brand-new Interactive Hawaiian Pokè Bowl.

Fresh ahi tuna tossed in our house shoyu poke sauce, served inside a handcrafted crispy rice cracker bowl.

The fun part? You're meant to crack the bowl right in the middle with your spoon and watch it fall onto the plate. Then use the crispy rice cracker pieces to scoop up the pokè and enjoy that perfect crunch with every bite.
