Can you help??

It always amazes me that C will decline assistance to get food until they "are hungry".

This conversation is typical of what he says when I check to see if they need me to send money for food and medicine.

The family has extra struggles lately as the youngest has very painful tooth issues, someone in the extended family group in camp has a painful medical issue that usually requires surgery, and G is pregnant despite using birth control.

This month I really do need help to send enough for their needs. Extra for Christmas really means that they'd like to get some meat. Last year they were able to get a goat.

If you would like to help this young family, please e-transfer to [email protected]. If you'd like the proof of money transfer, I try to remember to post it but I can also message it to you.

We've raised almost $1500! This money is already in the bank account held in trust for the family.

I'll share the new bank balance as soon as everyone has sent their funds. 🙂

There are so many things that refugees have to deal with that almost never occur here.

For example, G became pregnant with their youngest daughter after they arrived in the camp in Burundi.

The lack of enough nutritional food while in utero is likely one of the causes of her teeth being so decayed and painful. Additionally, there is little they can do to help her pain. She gets some pain medication but even that is limited.

With just $30,000 we can help this family move to Edmonton to become part of Canada and regain independence.

Every dollar received during our scone fundraiser goes into a bank account held in trust for the family for their first year here.

Scones! This time I'm doing two delivery dates, choose Friday, December 8 or Wednesday, December 20.

I'm again donating the ingredients and gas for delivery.

The last time I had to close orders after only 2 days so please order quickly to not miss out.

Menu and pricing has changed - please read carefully.

All scones will be frozen You Bake (which is super easy!)

ALL funds go directly to the bank account held in trust for C and G and their little girls. We need to raise about $30,000 for their first year in Canada.

I'm super excited to announce that I am baking up scones this month!

I am doing this as a fundraiser for a young refugee family from The Democratic Republic of the Congo who are stuck in Burundi.

I started a Group of Five Sponsorship Group to sponsor C and G (identities private for safety) and their two little girls. A Group of Five is a group of people who raise funds to support a refugee family here in Canada for a year as they learn to live and be successful here. We also commit to helping the family acclimate to life here and connect them with resources such as schools, health care, and other organizations.

I met C's family through my mom who was very good friends with the family here. I've had C and G's ID cards confirmed as eligible for refugee sponsorship.

My goal is to raise $1000. I am donating all the ingredients and packaging.
