"My wife, another couple, and I had the great pleasure of visiting St. John’s while attending the Brier, and one of the absolute highlights of our trip was being Screeched In at The Newfoundland Embassy Pub. My wife arranged the ceremony, and we were fortunate enough to have Niall, the Head Screecher, lead the experience. Niall was truly outstanding—an amazing master of ceremonies who mixed Newfoundland history, humour, and tradition perfectly. His storytelling was engaging, his timing spot‑on, and the laughs came easily and often. From the traditional bologna, to the screech, to the ceremonial kiss of the cod (Tina!), everything was done with warmth, pride, and a great sense of fun. It never felt rushed or gimmicky—just genuine Newfoundland hospitality at its best. Overall, it was a fantastic experience and a memory we’ll talk about for years. If you’re visiting St. John’s and want a true taste of local culture, The Newfoundland Embassy Pub—and a Screech‑In with Niall—should be at the top of your list....thanks to Maghan for setting it all up!!"
