This is a hard one to write. We are closing, tonight is our last night.
We came together as a group of kids that didn't really know what we were doing, but had enough stubbornness and passion in us to make it work. And make it work we did, the success, the support, everything has been wild. The growth we've seen has been thanks to our community and the efforts of the staff over the years. Our goals have been reached and in all the sadness this brings, we accomplished so much. In 2015 we scraped together a few things and made a 3 table restaurant, everything built by hand and bought second hand. We added and added all winter to have a great first Summer in 2016, from there we did a big reno and made that 1300 sqft office space into a restaurant.
Why are we closing? The space was never ideal, we've been looking for something else to move into since Summer one, but our space did eventually get better we made it work, however still inefficient for the purpose of a restaurant. Lack of staff, it's hard to find people to work some months, we always wanted to be a full year restaurant and keep people employed but it was certainly difficult in the winter. Growth wise we hit a plateau, our space didn't allow us to do anymore spaces, yet costs kept going up. Finally our lease, it's been up for awhile now and unfortunately the new terms of it made it financially impossible for us to continue. This has always been a passion project, this is not a big money maker, but bills were always paid staff always paid but with expenses outside our control we just couldn't continue on with such a burden.
Are we done done? No! All of our equipment furniture, everything, is going to Evermoore Brewing. We hope to host more OpenEats style dining events at the brewery on top of expanding the brewery menu. No one is being let go, all staff are moving across the street. At the end of the day the space was one of our unique characteristics but we knew it would eventually be our down fall.
Your Gift Cards will be usable at Evermoore Brewing Co, just not yet, trying to figure out how that works!
It's been an incredibly successful and positive run in this space, we are excited for the future, sad to be moving on, but certainly enjoyed the ride. From all of us to you, the biggest thank you possible. You made this dream a reality and in that reality our hearts were filled daily.
All the best and see you soon,
Alex
