Skip’s Fish and Chips is setting sail for the horizon. Owners Paul and Michele MacGregor announced recently that they will not be reopening the Summerside restaurant they have operated for a decade. “It was fun,” said Paul.

Hello,
Michele and I would like to thank all our customers for their support and for making Skip’s fish n chips a fun place to work for the last ten years.
Some of you may have heard that we sold the restaurant however after many missed deadlines the interested buyer was unable to secure funds.
Michele and I have decided to close Skip’s and renovate the space into three affordable housing units.
Gift card holders can be refunded by contacting me through my personal page or my cell 902-439-3765.
We look forward to this new chapter in our lives as full time grandparents.

It is with a heavy heart to say goodbye to Glen DesRoches who was lost at sea this week along with shipmate Moe Getson.
Glen was a very generous, gracious and humble man who along with his wife Lorna contributed greatly to a happy homey atmosphere at Skips.
Although he made no demands on me I always felt an obligation to give him our very best because of the person he was.
I can recall being forgetful in my duties as a waiter ( no surprise to most) and he would never ever complain.
The picture I see here is the only face I have ever known of him.
Lorna may God draw you into His loving arms at this time of despair.

So...glamour boy Joel Hansen walks in tonight and wants to try and beat big Shane Barlow’s record of eating a 5 piece. I said to my wife and cook “We’re sending this college boy back home with a large doggy bag he’ll eat out of for a week”
Well... this red faced waiter was humiliated enough after he easily broke the record with a 6 piece performance - but then he decides to order a 7th piece to further embarrass me before a packed restaurant. I served fish No. 7 after an intense search for the biggest one. I am utterly dumbfounded that a Human being could eat a 7 pc fish n chip Joel but you killed it. You are our new and I dare say final champion.(provided that Joey Chestnut doesn’t find out) You truly bring class to power eating and I’m pleased to present you with the bronze fork.

And just like that Shane Barlow makes Robert Handrahan yesterday’s forgotten man. Shane completely devoured a 5 piece fish n chip before stunned patrons at Skips today. I’m pleased to present the bronze fork trophy to our new champion.

An incredible event happened before a packed house tonight. Stunned patrons witnessed Robert Handrahan of Tignish devour a four piece fish n chip meal ( plus three pops!) breaking the long standing record of three. I warned you that it couldn’t be done - but you humiliated me Robert. Your meal was free and I salute you as our new champ.
I’m a defeated and broken man right now.
