New year. New people. New reasons to casually say, “I made that.” 😉

Two new cooking clubs are coming to The Chef Upstairs starting January 2027, and both end with something worth sitting down for!

🌿 The Wellness Kitchen Club
Put a little more flavour in your weekday mornings. Join us every other week to cook nourishing meals, pick up practical skills and meet people who also believe good food deserves good company.

We’re kicking off with The Mediterranean Kitchen: lemon-herb salmon, warm farro salad and more.

🗓️ January 12 - Vaughan
🗓️ January 13 - Midtown Toronto

🥩 The Gentlemen’s Grill Society
Your monthly excuse to get the guys together. Learn a few chef secrets, get hands-on at the grill and settle in for a dinner you can take some credit for.

First up: The Perfect Steak, starring New York striploin, homemade sauces and sides worth saving room for. Come solo or bring a buddy. We’ll bring the aprons.

🗓️January 19 - Midtown Toronto
🗓️January 20 - Vaughan

Make room in your calendar. We’ll make room at the table. 😎

Trick or treat? We prefer something good to eat. 🎃

Happy Halloween from The Chef Upstairs!

Who says Halloween treats have to come in candy wrappers? 🍸🎃

Meet the Trick-or-Tini. A little sweet, a little spooky, and definitely not for the faint of heart.

Here’s how to make it:

🍸 Ingredients:
• 2 oz gin
• ½ oz dry vermouth
• ½ oz Cointreau
• ½ oz grenadine
• 1 oz orange juice
• Optional: edible gold glitter

🖤 For the Black Rim:
• Honey (for ri***ng)
• 1 tsp black sesame seeds
• ½ tsp black pepper
• ½ tsp salt
• ½ tsp sugar
• Optional: ¼ tsp sumac

Save this one for your Halloween party!

We usually judge dessert by taste. These ones are judging us right back. 👀

Our junior chefs at The Chef Upstairs baked up some Halloween monsters, complete with colourful frosting, candy eyes and plenty of personality.

Too cute to eat? Our young bakers would probably disagree. 😉

This Halloween, our chefs are getting spooked by a few things that haunt the kitchen…

Be honest, which of these kitchen nightmares are you guilty of? 👀

Dry chicken again? 👀

Before blaming the recipe, check your technique.

Simple things like drying the chicken before it hits the pan, resisting the urge to constantly move it, and letting it rest before slicing can make a noticeable difference.

And when it comes to knowing if it’s ready? A thermometer beats guessing every time.

Save this for the next time chicken is on the menu.
