Our history:
Vic's very own fair trade cafe was started in 2006 by, the now graduated, Anneleen Naudts. We serve only fairtrade and organic products. Even our take away is made from recycled resources. Furthermore, it is biodegradable! We green bin all our waste-- however, we also have a vermilion composter to help the over-burdened metropolis. When not promoting just consumerism and general yumminess, the cafe tries to promote student based cultural events. In 2007-2008 the cafe ran thanks to the excellent management of Catherine Brown and Caroline Aksich and about 55 volunteers who gave an hour or more of their time per week. Thanks to our wonderful 2008-2009 co-managers Lucille Liu and Galya Khaikin and the marvelous 60+ volunteers, Caffiends enjoyed it's most successful year yet. The incoming managerial duo of Emily Gilbert and Vanessa Guidorizzi hope to keep past years' legacy of good coffee and great times going. While the cafe may undergo some changes, we look forward to a fantastic 2009-2010!
2010-2011 was managed by the amazing duo of Mary Anne Dunn and Rachel Chepesiuk who admirably helped the amazing volunteer team to establish ourselves in the new room. Thank you Ben Drapkin and Susan Wang for leading the fantastic group of volunteers in the 2011-2012 school year, one of the most successful yet! Smooth coffee, rich chocolate and soulfull music continue to make Caffiends Vic's favourite fair trade hangout. 2012-2013 promises to be an amazing year for Hannah Nitefor, Leah Moncada and the truly fantabulous team of volunteers.
