Good morning all. Decided to aim for an aerial view of our beloved little patio. Partially because it's going to be a gorgeous day outside and we're going to be hoppin'. But also because it's been a while since I've been on the roof, and I like to live dangerously.

Truth be told, I got here an hour earlier than I normally arrive, and I still have not contributed anything to the start of our morning. I'm not really sure how I'm still employed. It is quite the mystery.

Queen Asia, however, has been working to get all our specials ready for today. Honestly I think it's a bit of a charade, she's just trying to look busy. But don't tell her I said anything.

Specials. Okay. Here's the list.

1) Zurek (what!!?!? We haven't had this in forever)
2) White Bean Stew (what!!?!? We haven't had this in a bit)
3) Chicken Schnitzel on a kaiser (what!!?!? We haven't had this since Tuesday)
4) Bigos (what!!?!?...nevermind....)
5) Roasted Pork Sandwich (forget it, this joke is over)

So. There you have it. That's our day today at the Snackbar. You now have the information you need to make your Friday a stellar Friday. Or not. It's your day. Good morning all. I'm just going to say this right off the top, I don't want to hear about that Habs/Sens game. Don't do it. Don't you dare. Shut up. 🤦

Anyway, things are rolling smoothly over at the Snackbar. Food is being readied, coffee is being sipped, denial is kicking in, everything you could hope for in a Thursday.

If my presence in the Snackbar wasn't enough to get you over here, Ania has prepped not one, but TWO soups for today. We have the always popular Tomato Noodle Soup, as well as a fresh batch of Barley soup. Two soups, what a time to be alive! We also have Roasted Pork for sandwiches, along with both types of Bigos.

If the specials are not your thing (which would be weird, but whatever), we have our full lunch menu ready and waiting for you. So much to choose from, it truly is your day.

Good morning everyone. What a difference 24 hours makes. It is beautiful outside! To prove that point, I have posted our weekly garden update. I don't know how Witek does it, but there are flowers blooming like crazy already.

Truthfully, this boomerang (and remember, boomerang means a 12% effort day) took me a lot longer than it should have. Partly because of the slight breeze being inconsistent and partly because I am not very good at my job. Queen Asia can attest to this. She's been hard at work all morning while I've been watching cute cat videos. In my defense, they are very cute.

So we have a bunch of specials today, that I will now tell you about. It's also worth noting that I am not hiding specials from you. I would never do that. So there's no reason to call and ask me if we have something not mentioned here. Y'all are better than that, right? 😐

So it's another two soup day! Not only do we have a fresh batch of the always loved Wild Mushroom Soup, but we also have a small batch of our creamy Veggie Soup. TWO SOUPS!!!

Along with that, we have Chicken Schnitzel Sandwiches, Roasted Pork and both kinds of Bigos. As an added little incentive (I mean, I'm here. So do you need more than that? 🤷), we also have a small batch of Kopytka with mushroom gravy. I wasn't lying that Asia was working hard this morning.

Of course, our full lunch menu is also available. The world is your Oyster. I mean, we don't have oysters. Maybe I need to update this. Uhhhh. The world is your Pierogi. The world is your cabbage roll? The world is your something. Whatever. It's your day. Make this a madlibs thing and you can fill it out yourself.

Good morning Guns N Rose'ers. I can't decide whether I'm proud of myself or embarrassed of that one. I'm sure there's a good joke here, maybe I just need patience. 😑

So, I'm here for the next four days, so bare with me as I am generally only good for 1.75 days of quality content. I am going to attempt to spread that over the next few days. What a joy for you all. Something about Welcome To The Jungle. 😒

So it looks like it's supposed to November Rain out there today 🙄. So Ania, being the brilliant and thoughtful boss that she is (and yes, this is me attempting to not be fired today), made two different soups to turn that frown into whatever you call that flat lipped emoji. This one: 😐.

We have a Creamy Veggie Soup that is a rarity around here. I took a photo of it. It's the top of this post. You probably saw it. You probably also thought about how talented I am as a photographer with a phone. You probably also sung Paradise City in excitement. Along with that, we also have Tomato Noodle Soup. Two Soups, one day.

While the Guns N Roses references are really not working, what is working is our other specials: Meatloaf on a kaiser and Bigos (of both varieties).

So, it's time to live and let this post die (yes, I know that's a cover. Back off), and allow you the time to make the right choice for lunch. Don't Cry, It's So Easy to make today a great day. You're Crazy if you think otherwise.

Good morning all. We're all dancing into Thursday like no one is watching*. This may or may not be caused by a slight (and I do mean slight) over caffeination. Is caffeination a word? I'm going with it.

So, Thursday. The day we all look forward to in the week! Right? Wait... I think I might have this wrong. Is it Tuesday? Tuesday bluesday. No, Thursday. Thursday is correct. I need to pull it together.

As if you needed more reasons to celebrate Thursday's arrival, we have Pickle Soup as our soup of the day. I will now stop for a brief applause break.

If you're not feeling soup on this deceptively cool day, we have freshly roasted pork on a kaiser, and Bigos (of both varieties), along with the full standard Hastings fare. Sounds perfect, doesn't it?

Good morning all. Thanks for all the birthday wishes and gifts. Y'all really know how to make a person feel good on their fake birthday. I'm definitely 21, though. 😐
Just remember that you don't need an occasion to bring us gifts. Just follow your heart.

Speaking of following parts of the body, you should definitely follow your stomach to Hastings for lunch. We are a restaurant, it won't be weird. What you will discover, is happiness.

We have Chicken Schnitzel on a Kaiser as one of our specials today. I've been trying to talk Queen Asia into doing a "Getting Schnitty with it" cover (by the great William Smith), but so far that idea has been met with hard stares and general disapproval. 🤷

Other specials today include Tomato Noodle Soup, White Bean Stew and both varieties of Bigos. And coffee. Did I mention coffee?

So, give us a ring and we'll get your weekend started off right for you. Have we ever let you down before? Don't answer that.

Good morning all. I'm here, which means we must be creeping to the weekend. I mean, for me, it's Monday. But I don't know if a calendar is fluid like that. Like, can I just decide what day it is? It's my 21st birthday today. Yep. Shut up.

Okay, anyway. I know we really go out of our way to share the wide variety of food and drink we have. But it's time to show off what you are all here for: PIEROGIES. Specifically, the Sauerkraut and Mushroom pierogies.

These vegan friendly pouches of joy are the "under the radar" (little Grade reference for you) choice here in the Snackbar. Made fresh in house (like just about everything else in here), if they're not your favourite now, they will be soon.
Add them as your pierogi of choice in the hungry Tata's lunch, or just grab a bushel (yes, a bushel) and just dive right in.

Looking for something to add along with your pierogies? We have Chicken Noodle Soup as the soup of the day, along with chicken schnitzel on a Kaiser and both kinds of Bigos. And all of it is available for delivery today! We won't have delivery tomorrow, to treat yourself today!

Hello all. Thanks for tuning in again today. Remember at the beginning of the year when it was like 7 degrees and you were out wearing shorts and tanning. Boy, is that over.

In the interest of keeping everyone in a positive mindset, I thought I would not so subtly remind you that coffee is a thing. And it's a thing we do really well.

Look at that beautiful slow motion video of liquid happiness. Well, morning liquid happiness. I have been informed that in the evening, most of you all prefer other forms. 🤷 Maybe morning glory is a better term? Morning juice? We'll figure something out.

Specials today. Looking very briefly over to the specials board that I filled out a mere 20 minutes ago, I now know that we have Yellow Pea soup again as the soup of the day. Honestly, it's a perfect soup to pair with this weather. We also have two different sandwich specials on: Meatloaf or Pork Loin.

The last thing you should know as you look out your window with existential dread, is that we can deliver all your favourites right to your door. Just ask. Well. Just call us, and then ask when someone answers the phone. I think if you just asked your cat would just look at you like you're nuts. Which, you probably are at this point. Just take solace that you don't live in the hellhole that is Belleville ON (hi mom).

Good morning all. And happy Fat Thursday. More importantly, HAPPY BIRTHDAY US!!!

That's right, FIVE years of Hastings Snack bar. Who can believe it?!? Certainly not us. Especially given our low standard of service and poor demeanor. Case in point, check out our stories. That's how we party.

All jokes aside, we couldn't be more thankful to all of you for sticking around and ensuring that Dan has a job, and also making our little restaurant part of your life. We've counted ourselves very lucky to have you all.

So, this means you should probably stop in, grab some lunch, bring gifts valued at $50 or more, and help us celebrate! I'd be lying if I said today was the only day. Obviously this is going to run all weekend. So you have a chance to get it together. I like records, for the record. 🤦

As far as today goes, Pickle Soup is ready to roll, along with the always popular Meatloaf on a kaiser, and Bigos of both varieties. And we still have some donuts to help you celebrate Fat Thursday! Better hurry, though. You think we sell out of specials fast...
