Must be capelin weather!

If you're from Newfoundland & Labrador, you know exactly what that means: cool fog rolling in and a damp breeze off the ocean.

Around here, "capelin weather" is more than just a saying. It often means the capelin will soon be rolling onto our beaches, and when the capelin arrive, the whales aren't usually far behind.

At nearby St. Vincent's Beach, humpbacks feed remarkably close to shore as they follow the capelin into the bay. It's one of the most unforgettable sights of summer on the Irish Loop.
