Saturday night at Yafa Café, we had the honor of hosting a special dinner with the Tunisian Ambassador to Canada and the Tunisian community in Manitoba.
The evening brought together the cuisines of Palestine and Tunisia through a shared menu inspired by Mashwi (grilled) and seafood as a tribute to our people’s intimacy with the sea despite all odds.
There is something truly special about gathering around a table, the pure bliss of community, of stories shared, and cultures meeting through food.
We were truly humbled and inspired by the energy of this group. You were absolutely amazing, we’d love to host you again 💕
Stop by Yafa Café in St. James, an Arab restaurant at heart, connecting people across cultures and experiences through the warmth of bread and hospitality. Bring your friends and family.

Roasted flatbread is soaked in yogurt and garlic, layered with fragrant rice and tender chicken, then finished with fried almonds, crunchy bread, and topped with bright, zingy green hot sauce.

We know it’s winter and everyone’s reaching for warm drinks but karkadé doesn’t follow seasons. Karkadé (hibiscus tea) is one of Sudan’s most iconic drinks.
Some love it hot, some swear by it cold, and every Sudanese home makes it a little differently.
More than a drink, hibiscus is a symbol of Sudanese resilience, courage, and unity — qualities that continue to sustain the country through struggle and hope. It’s part of history tied to survival, resistance, and the ongoing fight for dignity and freedom. 🌺 Rooted in Sudan, poured with purpose.
