Some people say that our food is very spicy so we decided to investigate this topic a bit.
How do we percept spiciness?
We have special temperature receptors in our body which help us to detect cold and hot. But sometimes they can be 'tricked' by different chemicals. For example, mint and toothpaste provoke a feeling of coolness by affecting these receptors.
As for spicy food, it contains a special substance — capsaicin. It makes us feel the spectrum from light warmth to hellfire heat. In moderate amounts, capsaicin causes blood flow to the place it interacts with, improving recovery processes, increasing energy metabolism in cells and muscles. South Korean people have a tradition of lifting the mood at the end of a hard day — they go to a café and eat very spicy food since it stimulates serotonin production.
If you want to practice eating spicy food, we are open every day. Just ask our staff to make 'Indian hot' chat ;)
