Wir kennen sie alle:

Diese indischen Restaurants, die zwar auf rührende Weise sympathisch sind, aber in ihrer konsequenten Abwesenheit von Eleganz auch irgendwie traurig machen. Auf dem Bartresen blinkt noch ein bunt beleuchteter Polyethylen-Weihnachtsbaum (im Mai), die übersüßten Billigfuselcocktails in Ballermannoptik überfordern gleichsam Netzhaut und Bauchspeicheldrüse und das Zuviel an Lichterketten neben abgeplatzten Plastik-Buddha-Skulpturen belästigt ebenfalls niemanden mit heimeliger Atmosphäre.

Man sitzt mit 15 Leuten am Tisch, alle bestellen Unterschiedliches, alle bekommen Gleiches. Unidentifizierbares schwimmt in einer Currysoße. Immer. Dazu Reis, pappiger Salat und alle kloppen sich ums Bhatura. Man lächelt höflich, gibt Trinkgeld aus Mitleid, räumt unbeabsichtigt den dusseligen Plastikbuddha ab, gibt noch mehr Entschuldigungstrinkgeld: für den Buddha, für die Restaurantwahl, damit das Team eine Keramikvase aus einer Schöneberger Manufaktur kaufen und sie an die Stelle des Kunststoffweihnachtsbäumchens stellen kann.

Alles das und noch viel weniger ist BUDDHA REPUBLIC nicht!

We are beyond grateful for having the opportunity to serve so many lovely guests in 2018, it’s been an incredible journey and we believe that has never been better than today.
