Most Airbnbs that say "sleeps 8" cram everyone into shared spaces where you're constantly in each other's way.

This is different.

Casa San Juan gives you 3,200 sq ft (300m²) across 3 levels. Four separate bedrooms with hand-painted murals by local artists. 2.5 bathrooms. A full kitchen where you can actually cook. Living spaces where your group can gather without feeling cramped. And a terrace with views of the Basílica and the Andes.

Space to spread out. Space to breathe. Space to actually enjoy traveling with the people you like.

We've hosted families who said their kids got along better because everyone had their own corner. Friend groups who didn't get on each other's nerves for once. Couples who appreciated having separate spaces from the rest of their travel party.

Because here's what we know after years of hosting: when you're traveling with a group, space isn't a luxury. It's what makes the trip work.

This is Casa San Juan. Real space. Real house. Real Quito.

Warm light streaming through the windows. A good book. And enough quiet that you can actually hear yourself think.

This is what our guests love most—the ability to slow down.

You're in the heart of Quito, minutes from markets, cafés, and the Basílica. But inside Casa San Juan? It's peaceful. Spacious. The kind of place where you can recharge between adventures.

We've hosted adventurers who spend their days hiking Cotopaxi and their evenings curled up here with a book. Families who need downtime after mornings exploring the Historic Center. Digital nomads who work from the dining table with mountain views in the background.

Because here's the thing: travel doesn't have to mean go-go-go all the time. Sometimes it means mornings like this. Coffee in hand. Light pouring in. Space to just... be.

That's what 3,200 sq ft (300m²) gives you. Room to have both—adventure when you want it, peace when you need it.

Not cramped. Not rushed. Just space to live at your own pace.

When you're traveling with 8 people, bathroom logistics matter.

This is one of 2.5 bathrooms at Casa San Juan. A real bathtub (perfect after a long day hiking Cotopaxi or exploring the city). Space to actually get ready without everyone hovering outside the door.

And here's the thing: We're honest about what we have. We won't tell you the bathrooms are "spa-like" or "luxury." They're clean, functional, and there are enough of them that your group won't be scheduling shower times like a military operation.

We've seen it happen at other places. Eight people. One bathroom. Morning chaos. Someone's late. Someone's annoyed. Someone didn't get hot water.

Not here.

With 2.5 bathrooms spread across 3,200 sq ft (300m²), everyone gets their space. Parents can get ready without kids banging on the door. Friends don't have to awkwardly negotiate who showers when.

It's one of those things that seems small until you don't have it. Then it becomes the thing that makes or breaks a trip.

Travel should be comfortable. Not complicated. And definitely not stressful over something as basic as bathroom access.

This is the Carrera de Viudas 👠. Part of Quito's Año Viejo celebration.

Every December 31st, 100 "widows"—men dressed in full costume, makeup, wigs, and at least 5cm heels—race 500 meters down Avenida Amazonas.

It's chaos. It's hilarious. It's tradition.

The crowd goes wild. Kids cheer. Everyone's laughing. And these guys? They're committed. Full dresses. Purses. Attitude. Running like their lives depend on it.

This happens right before the midnight burn of the Año Viejo monigotes. It's part of how Quito says goodbye to the old year—with humor, with irreverence, with a celebration that doesn't take itself too seriously.

You won't see this in Times Square. You won't see it in London or Sydney. This is uniquely Ecuadorian. Uniquely Quito.

And Casa San Juan is a 10-minute drive from where it all goes down.

Mark your calendar: December 31, 2026. Be here for it.

This is a REAL kitchen. Not a kitchenette with a hot plate and a mini fridge.

Full stove. Full-size fridge. Counter space. Pots, pans, utensils—everything you need to cook actual meals.

Want to make breakfast before an early Cotopaxi tour? Go for it.

Want to pick up fresh produce from the market and cook a family dinner? The space is here.

Want to just order empanadas and heat them up? Also valid, we don't judge!

The point is: you have options. And when you're traveling with a group, that flexibility matters. Not everyone wants to eat out for every single meal. Not every family wants to drag tired kids to restaurants three times a day.

Plus—we stock the basics. Specialty Coffee or instant coffee, you decide. Oil. Salt. Spices. Fresh seasonal fruit. So you can actually USE this kitchen without a massive grocery run first.

We've had families make pancake breakfasts before adventure days. Friend groups cook big dinners together after exploring the city. Solo travelers brew morning coffee before anyone else wakes up.

The kitchen works however you need it to. Because travel shouldn't mean sacrificing the comforts that make life easier.
