A deeply personal selector with a sharp radar for the wacky, the moody, and the lowercase, mi-el’s style moves in careful balance, sliding from sung soundscapes and reflections on heritage into contemporary bass, electro, and vanguard electronics.

An NTS resident, she consistently blurs the line between selector and sound artist, shaping sets that feel exploratory yet grounded, playful yet precise. In just a few years, she has left her mark on countless dancefloors and listening spaces including Panorama Bar, Field Maneuvers, De School, Climate of Fear, and FOLD.

Beyond the booth, mi-el is the creative force behind Pulling Threads, one of London’s most beloved event series at Ormside Projects, further extending her curatorial vision into the city’s cultural fabric.

At this point, it is hardly folklore. mi-el is quietly and confidently killing it.

Uus Laine’s Label Night brings to Tallinn, a diverse catalog of indie, boutique and archival labels and the people behind them with curated DJ nights.

Next up, is Alma Negra (CH).

Founded in 2013, Alma Negra is a Swiss collective centered around the brother duo Dersu and Diego Figueira, whose diverse roots in Portugal, Italy, Spain, and Cape Verde inform their sound. The project was launched with the ambitious vision to explore the world’s diverse rhythms and drive musical innovation by mixing different styles. Their work is anchored in a process of digging and sampling, skillfully blending traditional sounds—from Fela Kuti-influenced Nigerian afrobeat and Angolan Lamento to Caribbean Zouk and the Maloya sound of Réunion—into a contemporary dance music context.

The Figueira brothers’ eclectic DJ sets embody this ethos, peppering disco and house with salsa, samba, jazz, and Afro-Caribbean carnival rhythms, all under their guiding motto: “As long as it’s Funky.”

Since 2014, Alma Negra has made an important contribution to intercultural exchange in their hometown of Basel. Their international presence began in 2015 with their first shows abroad in countries like France, the Netherlands, and Portugal. From 2016 to 2019, their reach expanded significantly, with performances in major hubs like London, Paris, and Berlin, as well as Istanbul, Tel Aviv, and Tunisia. Highlights from this period include sets at the Montreux Jazz Festival, Dimensions Croatia, and Fuse Club in Brussels. Their standing is further cemented by releases on respected labels like Heist Recordings, Sofrito, and Basic Fingers, alongside remixes from an elite group of peers, including Soulphiction, Kuniyuki, and Yuksek.

🎶 LINE-UP:
CARLOTTA (LIVE) – Esitleb oma debüütsinglit “Tacos With Spice” (toetatud Tartu Kultuurkapitali poolt). Tema muusika on nagu intiimne päevik, kus kohtuvad hingestatud R&B vokaal, elektrooniline muusika ja haavatavus.

Hyyru – DJ, kelle setid liiguvad sujuvalt disco-house’i, UK garage’i ja groove’ist kantud house-muusika piirimail. Tema valik ühendab soojad diskosämplid, kaasahaaravad bassiliinid ja garage’ile omased rütmid, luues energilise, kuid voolava atmosfääri. Hyyru keskendub tantsupõranda tunnetusele, pakkudes nii nostalgilisi kui ka värskeid saunde, mis hoiavad publiku liikumises kogu öö.

VIAVE – Tallinna produtsent ja DJ, kes viib kuulajad rännakule läbi atmosfäärilise house-muusika.

“Since their formation in the latter half of 2023, Berlin’s Industry have quickly emerged into the foreground as one of the more exciting groups of the European DIY punk scene. Having released their 2024 debut LP, touring and playing festivals all over the continent, they are now back with a follow up record that’s every bit as bruising and bleak as the first.

Much has been made of how ‘on point’ Industry sound - a mid-paced cocktail of heavy toms and churning riffs recalling ‘No Sanctuary’ era Amebix or classic Killing Joke. But Industry use these sounds as a springboard rather than a template, utilising the form for genuine expression where others are tempted by retro cosplay. Their sound is pared back, pulsing, relentless but danceable. But it’s the words that result in a listen that’s engaging from start to finish, an album that’s both expressive and polemic. Just as people often describe Discharge’s lyrics as Haiku, Industry uses the band’s repetitive grooves as a wide-open canvas on which their exasperated observations are given space to land with precision. The litany of criticisms are familiar to us all - violence exacted on the poor and vulnerable by those in power, the ongoing industrialised slaughter of humans and animals, the disastrous consequences of colonialism, the list goes on… The world in 2025 is fu**ed, and even though they say they ‘can’t even look’, this band has got their eyes wide open.”

Toronto’s cult-veteran quartet Luge weave danceability through their ceaseless maelstrom of genre denial. Each member brings their own taste and timbre to the table where ‘what-if’ chops song structure into a malleable goop still wriggling with ear-worming riffs. Their adolescent blend of curiosity and cheek holds true since Luge’s inception in 2015. They continue to dive into unmapped sonic territory, leaving no inspiration untapped and with the chops to pull it off. Their sound knows no bounds, fearing only a co-worker uttering the unholy, ‘what kind of music do you play?’

Luca Caruso-Moro’s drumming and Cameron Fraser’s bassing are the broth that binds Luge’s infinite spice-blend, locking into gridded topography throwing heavy, complex grooves straight at your head. Tobias Hart’s fizzing guitar freaks over the dance virus in a treble-drenched click-matrix that occasionally breaks into lucidity only long enough to bring you the riffs you need and the lines to lead. Finally, in this chaos, Kaiva Gotham arrives just in time to tame those discordant rhythms that threaten to doppler into nothing. Gotham brings hooks that rip flesh. Her voice and synth both hold the key to Luge’s puzzle box, pray she allows you a glimpse of its answer. Glimpse it loud if you can.

Luge has toured the DIY scenes of Canada and the United States, filling up your local house venues and dive bars with a live performance that The Ontarion aptly describes as “controlled chaos”. Notable appearances include opening for acts like Deerhoof, Lightning Bolt, Water From Your Eyes, Otoboke Beaver, Tropical F**k Storm, Guerrilla Toss, Palm, and Model/Actriz. Luge’s latest release ‘make miarklez irlz’ (2026) is their fourth full-length album.
