It’s Tallinn Craft Beard Weekend, and the City is full of beer drinkers looking for something to do before and after the festival starts.
On Saturday the 30th at 14:30, We’ve got Matthias Trum, the 6th generation owner and brewmaster of the famous Bamburg brewery Schlenkerla.
The brewery is steeped in history, as you’d expect from a place that first started producing beer in 1387.
We’ll have two unique beers on tap:
Aecht Schlenkerla Weichsel.
For Aecht Schlenkerla Weichsel red lager, the malt is dried over fire with high-quality cherry wood (not over beech wood fire as with classic smoked beer). In contrast to the spicy beech-smoked malt, the cherry wood smoked malt has a fruity, almost sweet smoke aroma and provides a copper-red color in the glass. The finest aroma hops add berry notes to the multi-layered smoke flavor. With 4.6% abv, Aecht Schlenkerla Weichsel is a full-bodied, pleasantly quaffable beer.
Aecht Schlenkerla Erle Shwarzbier.
For Aecht Schlenkerla Erle black lager, very special smoked malt is used. This is not dried over beech wood fire, as is usually the case, but over fire made of alder wood. The alder smoked malt brings a fine, complex smoky flavor to the beer – less strong and spicy than in classic smoked beer. A high roasted malt content provides a pronounced roasted aroma and the dark, almost black color. At 4.2% abv, Aecht Schlenkerla Erle has slightly less alcohol, but is strong in flavor.
We’ll start pouring and talking from 14:30 - plenty of time to lose your hangover and work on a new one. We’ve got one keg of each, so when it’s gone it’s gone. Some bottles in the fridge too.
