Framed For The Gathering

A brass lattice draws the dining room out of the house… mahogany, oval chairs, and a chandelier that falls like light made solid. Gold on the ceiling, silk at the window, parquet underfoot. Close enough to the living rooms to belong to the evening. Separate enough to feel like an occasion.

This is gathering, composed.

The house begins before you step inside.

Dark timber, a brass chevron, and a sliver of patterned marble… the entrance is designed as a first sentence, not a passageway. Fluted geometry, quiet light, and a long axis that leads the eye from the door to the rooms beyond.

Because a home of this kind should announce itself with intention.

Not noise. Presence.

Think beige is easy?

It all comes down to the undertone... and pairing the wrong ones can change the entire feel of a space.

But that wasn’t the only color we talked about…

Beige was just the beginning.

Between Geometry & Glow

A formal seating area inspired by Art Deco, where bold geometry, brass details, and refined textures shape the space.

Warm, layered lighting draws the eye inward, creating a welcoming sense of arrival.

A space where geometry frames the view, and light invites you in

Such a fun and uplifting conversation with Dalia! It felt so natural, full of laughs, positive energy, and spiritual moments.

And choosing the fabrics was definitely my favorite part... playful, spontaneous, and so many beautiful options to play with!

Watch episode 2 of “Hakayat Lawn” where I talk with Dalia Laz about the importance of understanding color psychology, artworks, and more.

Here, geometry flows from surface to touch.

The lines of the cladding find their way into the handle, turning a simple detail into part of a larger composition.

A quiet play of angles and rhythm… Enough movement to intrigue, never enough to overwhelm.

The house begins with a reflection.

A layered mirror draws in light, stretches the sense of space, and gently welcomes you into what lies beyond.

A subtle Art Deco echo… Creating depth, elegance, and a moment of arrival.

Geometry becomes a quiet language throughout the house.

Lines meet, shift and continue, allowing the kitchen door to disappear effortlessly within the composition.

A functional element concealed within the rhythm… Where architecture keeps its secrets beautifully.

Some designs are created to be seen. Others are created to be felt.

Inspired by the Egyptian ʿimma, Emma Seat transforms a familiar symbol of dignity, generosity, and respect into a form that embraces its guest.

With its enveloping silhouette and natural linen shell, every detail speaks to a distinctly Egyptian idea of hospitality... making you feel welcomed, valued, and truly cherished.

Because sometimes, hospitality takes form.

An Egyptian story, an award-winning form.

Emma Seat, also known as كرسي العِمّة, transforms one of Egypt’s most familiar symbols of heritage and hospitality into a contemporary piece of furniture.

Inspired by the traditional Egyptian head wrap and the timeless expression, «هنشيلك فوق راسنا», the design embodies a simple yet powerful idea: to make every guest feel honoured, welcomed, and held above all else.

We are proud to see this story of Egyptian identity and hospitality recognised with two design awards:

Cairo Design Award
African International Design Award

A piece of furniture shaped by culture, created with intention, and recognised beyond borders.
