Nicky's rural retreat in Xalo, Spain....The Costa Blanca is often misunderstood as a loud and brash holiday resort but away from the built-up coastline you will find a really beautiful part of real Spain with arguably one of the best climates and some of the best & freshest food in the world.Xalo is a small Spanish wine-making town in the Marina Alta region of the Costa Blanca. With the towns and
beaches of Denia, Javea, Moraira and Altea only 20-30 minutes away and the idyllic Xalo Valley and wonderful Sierra Bernia mountain range on your doorstep, Xalo is an ideal base to enjoy the best bits of the Costa Blanca. Xalo itself is a charming little town with blue-roofed church and 'plaza major' - great for enjoying some tapas and a glass of vino while watching the world slowly (in true Spanish style) go by. As the locals will tell you Xalo is famous for many things but mostly for its Mistela wine (once a favourite of the King of Spain!), its Saturday Rastro (flee market), almond blossom and honey.Cuatre Finques is situated on the edge of Xalo, in among the almond trees and grape vines with views of mountains all around, yet only 800m (10 mins walk) to the restaurants and bars of town.
