Italian cuisine has officially been added to the list of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The decision was unanimously made by the UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee, meeting in New Delhi, India. It is the first cuisine in the world to be recognized in its entirety. In Italy, celebrations continued throughout the day, culminating with the lighting ceremony at the Colosseum. Italian cuisine is a "formidable ambassador," said Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, "which supports tourism, enriches Italy's cultural offering, and proclaims throughout the world the desire to be present in the many places and among the people who make Italy a community."
