I want to organise some sort of fun charity ride up and down the grande corniche. Possibly involving Velo Bleu bikes for hire on the Riviera. We can have the serious bikers riding up the hill and the lazy bikers rolling all the way to Nice down the grande Corniche. Very popular running, cycling and driving road.
I am trying to think how it can promote the area, and the restaurants of course.
Don't want it to be too competitive but could be like the London marathon which has a fun element.
The Paris-Nice bike race finishes right near us which is on very soon. Could be an ideal chance to promote a new event. Must contact Velo Bleu.
How about anyone who wants to get involved contact me on this page or the page for Auberge de la Croix du Pape ? Riders can grab a bike from a Velo Bleu bike rack in Nice. Or bring your own and gather at our Carpark after observing the finish of the Paris-Nice race.
We will provide a light soup lunch for just 5€ to get up your strength and roll down the hill in the late afternoon.
I can also bring your bikes up the hill in a van and trailer from a gathering point in the port, possibly the car park? how about a meeting at Ma Nolans bar for nice-based residents to discuss.
We love Villefranche too so we could meet at our favourite drinking hole ChezNet for our VF friends.
If not Nice, then why not a VF finish line? Or both.
We can ask people to get sponsorship through the justgiving charity fundraising website. I'm sure people can use that wherever you are to raise money for their favourite charity. A all
Entry fee can go to the fastest rider in different age categories and fun categories such as Best Fancy Dress, Best Hat, Best Niçoise dress. Novelty bike. Ideas very welcome. Local clubs of any kind are welcome to get involved. Franglish Nice - Côte d'Azur might want to make a team. Niçoise association near the Acropolis?
