Year 10 is not a victory lap. It’s a long exhale, and more lost sleep than I want to think about with all the mistakes I’ve made along the way.
Hospitality is brutal in ways nobody warned me about. What’s kept me here and more or less sane are the regulars who’ve been coming since Week One, and the team we’ve spent the last 4-6 years especially rebuilding and iterating.
The Hood Paris keeps discovering itself year on year, and getting better. Hospitality makes you a person who is responsible to other people, every single day. That turns out to be worth more than I knew when I started.
Ten years! Thank you to everyone who’s eaten with us, worked with us, taught us, called us out, brought their parents, brought their first dates, proposed here, brought their kids (some of whom are now teenagers).
We started as a community space with great coffees and a fluffy, green cake that sparked some curiosity. We’ve become something we didn’t know how to name when we started. Now, I do: a little slice of home in Paris. 🇫🇷
Here’s to the next 10 years. Stay tuned, we’re working on some more great stuff.
With love,
Pearlyn, your grateful co-founder 💚
