So you may wonder why I chose to raise money for CICS - Cochlear Implanted Children’s Support Group, at next weekends Red Kite Run.

This one is a bit personal for me. My niece, Darcie, was born with hearing loss. She had hearing aids, practically from birth, but at the age of two and a half, had surgery to have cochlear implants fitted. It changed hers, and our lives. Since then, she has overcome many hurdles, and CICS has been there along the way to provide help and support for my brother, his fiancé and Darcie.

These small devices make a HUGE impact, and for a charity such as CICS to be there to support the families, is incredible.

You can get your tickets from the counter in the cafe, and all money will be donated to CICS, helping children who have had cochlear implants!

Only kidding it's actually a propellar being safely moved from the recent display we had here.

We are incredibly honoured to have housed such an important part of local history within our doors.
