2022 Open day dates!

We are pleased to announce our schedule for 2022 opendays at the Doon Valley Railway.

Visitors can travel behind our industrial steam and diesel locomotives on the former NCB line along the beautiful Doon Valley, enjoy light snacks in our Signal Box café and see numerous pieces of rolling stock from a variety of industries.

● April 18th Easter Monday - Easter egg hunt
● May: Sunday 1st and Sunday 29th
● June: Sunday 19th and Sunday 26th
● July: Sundays 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th and 31st
● Aug: Sundays 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th
● Sep: Sundays 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th

The Fireless steam locomotive will be in steam on the last Sunday of June, July and August.

***All passenger trains will be steam hauled SUBJECT TO LOCOMOTIVE AVAILABILITY***

In the event our steam locomotive is unavailable services will be hauled by one of our heritage diesel locomotives.

As 2021 draws to a close, all the volunteers of the Ayrshire Railway Preservation Group would like to thank all our wonderful supporters.

2021 hasn't been the greatest for us and we hope that 2022 will prove to be our year!

🔸️️Surprise!🔸️

For the first time the Signal Box Cafe will be opening during the winter months! 🍁☕

Tomorrow at 10am coffee, tea, snacks and light lunches will be available.

Come along if you're looking for an afternoon out, a warm snack or a quiet working space!

We're also working on a new project at the moment. If you feel like helping out, simply turn up or send us a wee message to let us know 😊

Unfortunately due to a problem with our main underground water supply pipe we will be unable to open this weekend. A team of volunteers are working on a plan to resolve the issue.

The café team are looking forward to welcoming customers back soon!

Volunteers needed!

The Signal Box Café is located on site of the Doon Valley Railway, operated by the charity Ayrshire Railway Preservation Group.

Volunteers are called to help out in the growing cafe. Jobs include welcoming visitors, taking orders, serving coffee and cakes, cleaning tables, and having a - Covid-19 restrictions approved - chat!

Friendly team of volunteers always on site to provide support.

We can't wait to meet you!
