When it comes to the summer rituals of Royal Ascot and polo, Berkshire is indelibly part of our psyche. Over the season, people put on their hats and their best, the social calendar gathers pace and life gradually moves outdoors.

Few places capture that feeling better than Coworth Park, where summer is measured in long lunches, cold glasses and polo playing out beyond the terraces.

From 18 June, TIDE returns for another season beside the meadow. Looking out towards the polo fields, it remains one of the county's most enjoyable outdoor lunch spots — relaxed, open-air and, somehow, still a little under the radar.

Another secret is Coworth Park's Rose Lawn Bar. Open now from Friday through Sunday, 12pm to 6pm, and requiring no reservation, it offers one of the simplest pleasures of the Berkshire summer: arriving, finding a seat on the terrace and settling in with something cold while the countryside stretches away in front of you.

Together with The Barn, Michelin-starred Woven by Adam Smith and the wider estate beyond, it is a reminder that Coworth Park is at its most compelling this time of year.

Now all we need is sunshine🌞.

Reasons to celebrate today come courtesy of The French Table in Surbiton and its much-loved owners/ host, Sarah and Eric Guignard.

On 12 June, they will mark 25 years of The French Table which is no small achievement in hospitality by any measure.

And why are we mentioning it now? Because the party celebrations have already begun.

Guests dining between 2–13 June will receive a special anniversary scratch card with the chance to win lunch for two at The French Table, while those dining on 12 June will receive a complimentary glass of sparkling wine in a toast to the occasion.

This neighbourhood restaurant's enduring success is no coincidence but a combination of generosity, warmth - from them and the supportive local community - and consistently excellent cooking. It's steered The French Table through changing fashions, economic headwinds and even lockdowns. Along the way have come national awards, television appearances, a bakery next door, and generations of loyal diners who continue to return.

A quarter century on, their original ambition remains refreshingly unchanged: to serve great food with genuine hospitality.

Here's to the next chapter. 🥂

It's a thriller: MasterChef meets MI6, by way of Mauro Colagreco.

After challenging MasterChef semi-finalists to recreate it in the kitchens of Raffles London, judge Mauro Colagreco's Espionage Menu launches tomorrow at Mauro Colagreco at Raffles London at The OWO.

Inspired by The OWO's (Old War Office) extraordinary history of spies, codebreakers and covert operations, the five-course experience explores camouflage, concealment and surprise, ending with a Vesper Martini dessert worthy of James Bond.

There may be a touch of Bond. The cooking, however, is pure Mauro Colagreco.

Available 2–27 June. £175 including Louis Roederer Champagne. 🍸

Bank holiday brunch, all weekend long.

Nothing quenches the thirst of a hot bank holiday weekend quite like a long brunch in St James’s with a Chutney Bloody Mary pitcher nearby.

Across Saturday, Sunday & Monday, Chutney Mary turns brunch into an all-afternoon affair with seasonal favourites designed for lingering over far longer than originally intended.

With complimentary pitchers for members. See first comments.

Goodbye London, hello Eastern Mediterranean.

At YOPO inside The Mandrake, the newly launch YOPO Zaytoun brings the soul of the Levant: bold flavours, shared plates and ingredients at their peak.

Under Head Chef Viktor Yordanov, the menu balances richness with exotic spice, from harissa glazed ribeye and yellowtail with preserved lemon to pistachio mille-feuille and olive oil ice cream.

Let yourself be transported.

London never struggles for restaurants. But genuinely exciting vegetarian restaurants are still relatively rare.

That's why Holy Carrot Spitalfields is so exciting.

After first building a following in Knightsbridge, before gaining an even bigger audience in Notting Hill - it has now opened a second site in Spitalfields with an even greater selection now that diary and eggs are added to the menu.

As someone who has been a vegetarian for more than 30 year its impossible to choose a dish - the devilled eggs with chilli-hazelnut salsa is an essential but how to choose between coal-roasted leeks with smoked carrot hot sauce and hazelnuts, or burrata with coal-cooked beetroot, or curried tofu, chicory, apple and raisin - and I haven't even moved off the starters yet.

Very few restaurant genuinely feel like they push things forward. This one does. And perhaps the best compliment is this: you leave thinking about what you want to order next time before you've even paid the bill. And that will delight you too.

Announced today: Michelin Guide is retiring the Green Star.

From next year, the sustainability accolade will disappear in favour of Mindful Voices — a new storytelling platform focused on the people and practices shaping modern hospitality.

Perhaps a sign that sustainability is no longer viewed as a separate category, but increasingly part of the baseline expectation for serious restaurants.

Jazz royalty arrives in Mayfair on 27 May as Ronnie Scott's returns to The Dorchester for another evening of dinner and live music in The Grill.

This edition features Sumudu Jayatilaka, lead singer with Jools Holland's Rhythm & Blues Orchestra, alongside a three-course dinner from Martyn Nail. The sort of glitzy supper-and-show culture that keeps Mayfair swinging.

Luxury Restaurant Guide members receive a complimentary glass of sparkling wine on arrival.

For this year’s sketch in Bloom, sketch has transformed into a whimsical woodland inspired by Winnie-the-Pooh, with floral installations, honey-inspired cocktails and seasonal menus running throughout the destination. One of London’s most theatrical dining rooms, and arguably at its best at this time of year.

Luxury Restaurant Guide members enjoy privileges across Afternoon Tea, The Gallery and The Lecture Room & Library.
