A while back, we fell in love with kushiage (deep-fried skewers) at a tiny, brilliant Izakaya in Matsumoto, Japan.
We wanted to bring that exact vibe back home, and after a lot of tweaking, we’re so happy with our own interpretation. They’re light, seriously crispy, and served with a rich dipping sauce.
This plate went out to a table who all wanted to try them. Just remember the golden rule of traditional kushiage—absolutely no double-dipping if you’re sharing the sauce bowl! 😉
You can find these on our Thursday night Izakaya menu. We also occasionally run them as a daily special—though they never usually last very long when we do!
Who’s putting an order in this week?
