Over the last few days we were treated to something truly special in the Orangery.

Epiphany filled the space with the most beautiful, improvised music – creating gentle, intuitive Sound Portraits of those who sat and listened. It was a joy to witness people experiencing their own Sound Portraits – some peaceful, some playful, some deeply moving. There is something extraordinary about being listened to in this way, and then hearing that listening expressed through music.

If you have experienced a Sound Portrait – or if it this has sparked your curiosity – you may be delighted to know that Epiphany will be returning to Ashburnham Place in April 2026 for a very special creative retreat:

The Space

Tuesday 21st April 4pm – Friday 24th April 10am 2026

We look forward to welcoming you to The Space – a Creative Retreat with Epiphany for those who long for time to wonder and create.

Epiphany’s skilled team will gently guide our time together. Morning and evening gatherings will include relaxing improvised music and reflective thoughts for each day. In between, there will be space to enjoy and be inspired by the beautiful surroundings of Ashburnham, receive your own Sound Portrait, or explore photography, art, writing and nature.

Bring your musical instruments, cameras or art materials and enjoy stretching your creativity in a peaceful and supportive setting.

Join us for a relaxed and elegant experience featuring a welcome Blood Orange Mimosa, a delicious selection of finger sandwiches, cakes and pastries, and freshly baked plain and fruit scones served with Cornish clotted cream and strawberry jam.
We also offer a thoughtfully prepared vegan option, so everyone can enjoy the occasion.
Afternoon Tea is £27.50 per person, including a pot of Canton tea or filter coffee.
Spaces are limited for Mother’s Day weekend, so we encourage early booking to avoid disappointment.

Epiphany are with us at Ashburnham Place next week and will be playing for our Orangery guests on Thursday 26th February. They will be playing from the Orangery. Epiphany will be offering portraits for guests between 10:30 and 14:30. If you havent experienced having your sound portrait taken before you really must. The musicians are all professionals and the sound portrait is a complimentary gift.

This Valentine’s weekend, we’re excited to celebrate love with a delicious treat – Maritozzo buns, lovingly crafted by our talented Chef James Kirby in collaboration with ! These delectable Italian delights are perfect for sharing a sweet moment with someone special.

Maritozzo buns originated in Rome and have been enjoyed for centuries. Traditionally, they are soft, sweet brioche buns that are often filled with whipped cream and sometimes adorned with toppings like candied fruits or chocolate. Their name derives from the word “marito,” meaning “husband,” making them a delightful gift to express affection.

To kick off our Valentine’s celebration, we’ve prepared blood orange and rhubarb filled Maritozzo buns, bursting with bright flavors. But that’s not all!
