The John Hewitt Bar A Belfast City Centre Pub by Located in Belfast's Cathedral Quarter, The John Hewitt first opened its doors in December 1999.

The bar is unique in its ownership as it is owned by The Belfast Unemployed Resource Centre. The Resource Centre's managers had always relied on various grants to fund its work, when in the mid ninties, they came up with the idea of generating some of their own funds by going into business... And why not a pub! John Hewitt, the late poet, socialist and Freeman of Belfast officially opened the Resource Centre on Mayday 1983, hence the name of the bar.

Bank holiday weekend at the John Hewitt.

Plenty of tunes, plenty of craic and sure there's no alarm to be set on Monday morning anyway so no harm done. You already know where we are.

We'll be open 12pm-8pm on Monday if you need somewhere to see it out.

Lunchtime sorted and it won't break the bank either 🤌

Frankys Lasagneria Belfast is doing their £15 lunch special and honestly, for a slab of that lasagne and a pint, it's a bit of a no-brainer.

Now Recruiting Bar Team Member 🫵

We are looking for a reliable and hardworking team member to join the bar at The John Hewitt. The role is part-time, 16-24 hours per week, covering evenings and weekends.

Day to day, you'll be keeping the bar stocked and running smoothly during service, glassware, cellar duties and supporting the team when it counts. Previous experience is useful but not essential, full training will be provided.

We offer competitive pay, a supportive team, and the chance to be part of something with a genuine community purpose.

We’ve got Pink Gin pouring. Fresh, fruity and made for those “just one more" drinks.
