A Spring makeover! Just in time for summer and our Village Fete. Our beautiful lady marking the Benenden war memorial, looking resplendent with fresh planting 🌺
Standing at the edge of Benenden since 1921, this stunning bronze figure was sculpted by Albert Toft, one of Britain’s most celebrated memorial artists. She sits in flowing robes, holding a laurel wreath, a timeless symbol of remembrance and peace.
Her plaques bear the names of 32 Benenden men lost in the First World War — including three sets of brothers and a further 13 servicemen, servicewomen and civilians lost in the Second World War. She is Grade II listed🤍
🌳 Thanks lads for the hard work
