Risby fishing ponds were built 17 years ago on the ancient site of Risby hall and gardens. The hall was burnt to the ground in 1784 but the Folly remains on the bank of the lake which adopts its name. All the lakes are set in a tree-lined undulating valley that once boasted one of the biggest deer parks in Yorkshire. The odd wild deer can still be seen by the die-hard early rising fisherman...

Whether you’re a seasoned fisher or simply a person who enjoys fine views, we have it all here at Folly Lake Café. How to find us:
Folly Lake Cafe sits on the banks of Folly lake at Risby Park Fisheries, located approximately 1 mile southwest of Beverley and 10 minutes drive from Hull. Taking the A164 from Beverley to Cottingham turn right for Walkington (look for the brown tourism Fish sign), it’s the first turning after the A1079 junction. From Humber Bridge, follow the signs for Beverley and take the left turn for Walkington after the Skidby/Cottingham roundabout. Follow the Walkington road for 100yds then take your 1st left for Little Weighton. Risby Park is on your right 1/2 mile down Dunflat Road. From Leeds/Sheffield and the M62, leave at junction signposted North Cave, head through the village taking signs for Beverley. At Walkington, the last village before Beverley, turn right at the traffic lights located at the end of the village. The first sign for Risby is at the next right turn. We’re saying goodbye to our Poppy. ❤️

Three years ago, she walked through our doors shy, nervous and unsure of herself. Since then, we’ve had the privilege of watching her grow into the confident, kind and incredible young woman she is today.

If you’ve visited us over the last few years, chances are you’ve met Poppy. Whether she was serving your breakfast, having a chat, making you laugh, or brightening your day with her smile, she became a much-loved part of our little community.

She has a heart of gold, works harder than most, and has a way of making people feel welcome wherever she goes. Customers became friends, colleagues became family, and somewhere along the way she found her voice and her place in the world.

While we’re so excited for her next chapter, we’re going to miss her terribly. Watching her grow up here has been a privilege, and if we’re honest, it feels a little like we’re losing one of our own.

Please join us in wishing Poppy all the luck, happiness and success in the world. We couldn’t be prouder of her. ❤️
