We currently have 5 well-appointed guest bedrooms and an apartment capable of sleeping five with lounge and kitchen facilities. 🥢🌏 FRIDAY 26 JUNE – ASIAN NIGHT AT THE TALBOT 🌏🥢

Have we done an Asian-themed evening yet?

No. No, we haven't.

So, in a moment of either culinary inspiration or complete madness, we've decided to tick that box this Friday and bring a taste of Asia to The Talbot.

With this heatwave showing no signs of giving up, we've also tried to include some lighter, fresher dishes that feel a little more suited to summer.

Now, a small confession...

With only two of us in the kitchen, we've decided that attempting our full menu alongside this Asian extravaganza would be an excellent way to test the limits of human endurance. To avoid that (and to ensure we're still on speaking terms by the end of service!), the normal menus are taking the evening off.

Just as we do on our popular Sunday roast days, we'll be focusing entirely on this special menu so we can give these dishes the attention they deserve.

Can't decide what to order?

Neither could we.

That's why you can opt for our Sharing Menu for two (including one Chow Mein option), allowing you to sample the dishes without suffering a serious case of menu envy. We don't want anyone lying awake wondering how good the other dishes tasted!

Not Goodbye Yet...
Many of you will already have heard that we have made the difficult decision to step away from The Talbot, with our current handover date set for 13th November.
Whilst we had hoped to share this news ourselves after first speaking with our team, that opportunity was unfortunately taken away from us when the information was shared prematurely. We are saddened that the news reached many of you in this way, but we wanted to take this opportunity to communicate it personally.
Being custodians of this wonderful pub has been one of the greatest privileges of our lives. We are incredibly proud of what we have achieved and deeply grateful for the support, friendship, and loyalty that so many of you have shown us along the way.
Most of all, we want to thank our amazing team. From our talented chef and welcoming front-of-house team to our hardworking housekeeping staff, every one of them has played a huge part in creating the experience that The Talbot has become known for. Watching our younger team members grow in confidence has been one of the most rewarding parts of this journey.
The good news is that we're not going anywhere just yet. We still have five fantastic months ahead of us, and we're committed to making them the very best they can be.
Thank you for being part of our journey so far. Here's to making many more memories together over the months ahead ❤️

This Friday we’ll be serving up a delicious selection of warming curries with both sit-in and takeaway available:

💍 A Special Day for Our Chef 💍

Please note that our kitchen will be CLOSED on SATURDAY 16 MAY for both lunch and dinner service.

Our wonderful chef, Ian Chalmers, is getting married, and we’ve been invited to celebrate this very special occasion with him ❤️

We’re sure everyone who knows Ian and has enjoyed his incredible food at The Talbot will join us in wishing him every happiness as he begins this exciting new chapter.

Richard and I would also like to take this opportunity to publicly thank Ian for everything he brings to The Talbot kitchen. We truly couldn’t do it without him. Behind the scenes, he has taught me so much, supported us endlessly, and has been an absolute joy to work alongside. We are incredibly fortunate to have him in our corner and proud to call him not just our chef, but our friend.

🍻 The Talbot will still be OPEN for drinks from 12pm until close, so please do pop in and raise a glass with us to the happy couple!
