Hopefully you haven’t been missing The Cake Shed too much. The weather has been so hot and we know people just don’t seem to want cake when it’s hot.

These are the next few opening dates we have planned. We’re hoping we won’t need to cancel any due to the weather.

The plan will be to have things like scones (the cheese scones were so popular last time), brownies and lemon cakes. Anything topped with chocolate is a non-starter in this weather.

We will also be rotating the bakes so there won’t be as much in the shed at any one time.

We were also thinking about stocking some home made granola-let us know if this is something that you’d like to see.

Also if you have any ideas of anything you’d like to see in the summer months then please let us know.

This gorgeous cake was another one that had the battle the heat the other week.

It’s all chocolate with chocolate buttercream and was demolished by the birthday girl and her friends.

The lovely topper was made by a local lady (Kate Shep) who makes a lot of my toppers and is brilliant at what she does.

The first of last weeks cakes.

This was challenging as I was decorating it on Wednesday which was the hottest day and the fondant was struggling.

It made it though and it was loved by the recipient.

It was a chocolate sponge with cherry flavoured buttercream which was amazing.

Due to the forecast temperatures next weekend The Cake Shed At Thistlebarrow won’t be open.

We hate cancelling and will only do it if we absolutely have to.

While I don’t mind baking in the heat, past experience has shown that when it’s hot we get a lot less customers. This means we get a lot more unsold bakes.

We will be publishing dates for July/Aug/Sept shortly so please keep an eye out.

Be a baker, they said. It’ll be fun!

6 sponges baked, 4 left to do.

1 cake part decorated and trying to stay cool in the lounge as it’s currently the coolest room in the house.

Busiest week of the year so far and typically it’s also the hottest.

We had a great weekend and had lots of lovely feedback.

The cheese scones were incredibly popular so they will definitely be going in the shed again.
The apple cake was also a big hit.

Wow we have an amazing selection of cakes in The Cake Shed this weekend.

You can gather yourself a whole afternoon tea as we have scones (plain & fruit with jam, and cheese), brownies, rocky road, cornflake crunch, lemon meringue sponge, Dorset apple cake and individual victoria sponge!

The weather looks like it’s going to be hot, especially Sunday, so pop along and buy some bits for the beach and picnic or just because.

The Cake Shed At Thistlebarrow is open this weekend from 10am.

We are looking forward to a warmer and maybe sunnier weekend so a perfect time to get treats for the beach or a picnic.

We have our usual bakes of Brownie and Rocky Road and are planning on adding some scones this week…plain, fruit or cheese.

Anything else you’d like to see then drop a response below and we’ll see if we can make it happen.
