THE DAY HAS COME
The day has come to say our goodbyes. We have been waiting for this day in anticipation for a while now but with a heavy heart I say goodbye.
I am thankful to have taken part in establishing and running a successful business, and have enjoyed it immensely. I'm grateful for a wonderful journey.
I came into this after a career in nursing, to provide for my family and to offer a welcoming and hospitable environment in Brighton, bringing a piece of myself and my culture, and providing delicious authentic food that is reasonably priced
Being able to continue doing this as one grows older in a tough economy without losing one's authenticity and core values is hard.
I knew I could never be a ruthless business woman from the beginning after all it’s not me and it’s not my personality. I have a passion for food, I love people, and I love the way my cafe has brought people from all walks of life together. And I’m a feeder after all I’m a Palestinian mother 🥰 I love seeing people enjoying our food and hopefully in the process learning a little about our culture’s hospitality and warmth .
I am grateful for this journey which I wouldn’t have been able to achieve without the support and help from my husband.
Now it’s time we both say goodbye to you all and hope we see you again soon
I’m grateful and thankful to all my customers and all the lovely staff that have worked hard over the years to make Filfil a successful, warm place you will always stay in our thoughts and memory.
I’m also grateful to our suppliers and to everyone that has contributed to keeping us running.
Over the last few months it has been very difficult to concentrate on the business when we have been witnessing the atrocities in Gaza and Palestine. it’s been hard to even think about or eat food when hundreds of people are starving. Although it has been lovely seeing children come into the cafe to enjoy our food with their parents or on their own, it’s been heartbreaking to think of the thousands of children who are hungry, homeless and orphaned.
After the first very difficult few weeks I found comfort in being at work surrounded by people that cared and supported us, and felt for our people. Although we are all looking on in horror and disbelief at what’s happening, I have found solace in being at work
My journey in life is not yet over, and I’m looking forward to the next chapter. I hope to be able to find a path that will allow me to contribute towards helping others.
Until then we will have a good rest and we thank you all and hope to see you soon
