If you are intending to do some gardening of the Bank Holiday weekend then please remember not to change everything at once and cut down all of your undergrowth at the same time. Make changes gradually it is better for our wildlife.

Small businesses beware! As we enter the Christmas Craft Market season we are seeing fake Craft Fair adverts popping up all over the local Facebook community groups.

The posts advertise a fictional craft fayre, fair or similar event which claims to be held at a local hall. The organiser calls out for stall holders to sign up and pay a sum of money to them. In reality there is no event and the fraudster is hoping people will send them a stall holders pitch fee.

Scam craft fair red flags
🚩 Venue is not tagged in post
🚩 Requests people to send a private message
🚩 Requests a "friends and family" payment via PayPal
🚩 No event advertised on the venue's page

Please do your homework before booking into any events and make sure the person advertising such events is a genuine organiser. Call the venue first and double check the event, before parting with any money.

If people spot an advert on Facebook and think it may be a scam, please report it to the admin of the Facebook group that you see them on, so that they can be removed straight away.

For events run at The Hatfield Hotel Lowestoft, you can confirm with the venue or with OMG Fayres Lowestoft who organise craft events there.

💥 FINALLY! After more than 230,000 badgers have been cruelly killed, the badger cull is finally ending in 2025.

Speaking during a Westminster Hall debate on 13 October, triggered by Protect the Wild’s petition, Defra secretary Angela Eagle confirmed 👇

“I will be clear from the outset that this Government are committed to ending the badger cull. We stand by that commitment, and I say again that the badger cull is ending.”

The senseless killing of badgers has been cruel and ineffective.

The government aims to replace culling with a combination of enhanced cattle testing, better farm biosecurity and mass badger and cattle vaccination, as part of a strategy to eradicate bTB in England by 2038.

Thank you to Protect the Wild for rallying public support to trigger the debate in Parliament! 🙌

Remember to check for wildlife if you're tidying the garden!
🦔 ✂️🚫

Leave grass unmown – but if you must mow, try to at least leave a corner or edge untouched for wildlife to shelter in. Check carefully for & other wildlife before you start any work, then cut it initially to about a foot tall. Check again before cutting any shorter!
