Behind the scenes at The Cliff… the good, the busy, and the honest truth. 😎😊✊🏻

Looking back at this month, we are honestly blown away. The Hoedown was completely mental, the Crich Fete after-party was brilliant, and the football presentation was top-tier. We have the most respectful, pleasant, and legendary customer base in the world… 😆♥️ Seriously, we are so lucky to call so many of you our friends.

Because we love you guys, we also want to keep it 100% real with you about this past week. It has been unpredictably, beautifully chaotic. 😊😂

The Cliff Inn is exactly what it looks like from the outside… A proper, traditional village pub. That’s part of its charm, but it also means we’re a relatively small venue with a small kitchen. It doesn’t take much for us to reach full capacity, and when we do, our little kitchen can only produce so many fresh meals at once.

Behind those kitchen doors is our brilliant Amy and our fantastic team, cooking proper homemade pub grub from scratch. There are no microwaved or instant meals here. Everything is cooked fresh, and when the pub gets absolutely rammed, that naturally means food takes a little longer.

When the kitchen reaches its absolute limit, we will sometimes have to stop serving food or turn people away, even if it’s before our usual food service finishes. We never enjoy doing that, but we’d much rather be honest than compromise on the quality of the food or push our team beyond what they can reasonably do.

What does upset us is when our front-of-house team receive grief for simply doing their jobs. We are all one team, and we all work incredibly hard to give people the best experience we can. If we’re clearly flat out, all we ask for is a little patience and kindness. If that’s not possible, we’ll very politely suggest another venue may be better suited on that occasion.

If you’d like to help us (and yourselves!), booking ahead makes a huge difference, and even better is sending a pre-order for larger groups so we can prepare in advance. We know we can’t always answer the phone when we’re in the middle of a busy service, so please feel free to WhatsApp landlord Joe on 07930 905689 or Lil on 07717 252314. Or send us a message on Facebook if you can’t get through in future. ✊🏻😎

Finally, to our legendary regulars and all the absolute gems who keep us smiling every day… thank you. You are the reason we love doing what we do. Your patience, your laughs, your understanding, and your support mean more than you know. You are what makes The Cliff the place it is. 😎♥️😊

Cheers all. Much love, as always.

Team Cliff Inn x

Right, you lot. You’ve been badgering us about merch for ages, so we’ve finally pulled our fingers out…. ✊🏻😎😊

Here’s a photo of me mid-shift looking like an absolute structural hazard. All black, random sunglasses, completely normal behavior. 😂

However…. What I’m holding is the important part! The sample box that our lovely mates Donna and Paul from Coddington Creations popped up for us. They had a few well-earned pints as well, understandably. 😊♥️

We’re still sorting out prices, what items we’re actually getting, and how to operate a business, so bear with us. Full info and price lists coming soon once we've got our acts together! Very exciting times we’re living in. Don’t take it for granted! 😂😆✊🏻 Cheers. Lil x

IMPORTANT NOTICE! 🚨 Friday Pizza Night is ON! (But our kitchen is heading to a wedding this weekend…) 😊

First things first: Friday night is business as usual! Our legendary pizza and meat raffle night is fully good to go, so please feel free come down and kick off the weekend with us. ✊🏻😎 Now for the part where we ask for your lovely understanding.…

Because a close friend of ours is getting married this Saturday - the Cliff Inn kitchen will be closed this Saturday and Sunday. We are genuinely so sorry for any disruption this causes to your weekend dining plans. We absolutely hate turning off the ovens, but duty calls!

Not to mention, we have the fabulous J.J Galway band playing up here on Saturday from 8pm ish! Get yer sens up for an Irish jig or two! How can one complain… 😆🎵☘️

Please note: The bar will remain fully open for drinks. We’ll be right back to cooking up your favourites next week! A big cheers to you lot as always for your endless support and understanding. See you Friday night to start the celebrations early! 😊😎♥️

Much love!
Joe, Amy, & Lil x

It’s the morning after, the feet ache, the voice has nearly gone… and I wouldn’t change a thing!

Yesterday was one of those days that reminds you exactly why village life is so special. 😎♥️

A huge cheers to everyone involved in Crich Village Fete From the organisers and volunteers, to everyone who came along, bought a drink, had a dance or simply stopped for a chat… what a cracking day it was.

Then the evening rolled round, the sun put on one hell of a show, and we were lucky enough to welcome The In-Here Brothers back to The Cliff. Safe to say they had the place bouncing once again. 😎😊🎵

At one point I somehow found myself stood on the stage trying to thank everyone. If I’m honest, I hadn’t really planned what I was going to say… which probably showed! 😂😳

Next Tuesday marks a year since Mum and Dad took over The Cliff Inn….

It’s been a year of learning as we go, wondering what on earth we’ve let ourselves in for, fixing things, breaking things (usually me), laughing, occasionally panicking… and somehow ending up with memories like yesterday.

I don’t think any of us imagined we’d feel so lucky to be part of this little corner of Derbyshire.

So thank you. 😊

To our brilliant staff, our family, our musicians, our regulars, our occasional visitors, and everyone who’s walked through our doors over the last year… you’ve all helped make The Cliff what it is.

Here’s to many more sunsets, many more pints, and hopefully a few less moments where I have to stand on a stage with a microphone pretending I know what I’m doing. 😂😬♥️

Cheers, everyone.

Much love! Lil x

Very pleased to have these two back at The Cliff for the Crich Village Fete after-party!

Daz and Gaz are not only brilliant musicians but genuinely lovely people too. They played here last August and had the place singing along all evening, and they’ve been incredibly supportive of our little pub ever since. 😊

We can’t wait to welcome them back! Get yourselves up here Saturday evening! 😎✊🏻🎶

If you don’t know The Cliff Inn, Crich then there is no better time to introduce it to into your life than this weekend.

It just so happens we are playing there on Saturday. We start at 7pm so you can come boogie and discover a hidden gem all at the same time!!

To be honest, you could come and not watch us and just look out at the stunning views for hours on end.

See you there!!

Important info for you Crich fete goers. Please read. Will be a day and an ‘alf! Get yourselves down there this Saturday friends. X

The fete is on Saturday! Only 5 more sleeps....
The weather is looking good! Very warm in fact!
So, a few last-minute key points.

FUN DOG SHOW
Because temperatures are forecast to be in the high 20s, we have decided not to run this event on veterinary advice.

ACCESS
For those who are new to Crich, pedestrian access to the recreation ground is via the Market Place, under the bridge off Coasthill (opposite the drive to The Glebe and Medical Practice), from The Beeches or via the footpath from the top of Jeffries Lane.
Wheelchair access is available via all except the Jeffries Lane footpath. But there are slopes!

PARKING
There is no public parking available on The Rec.
Crich centre is notoriously bad for parking. So we urge people to walk to the event if possible. Please be considerate to residents and do not obstruct residential roads or driveways. Ensure access for emergency vehicles.
We have arranged free parking in the National Tramway Museum overflow car park on Plaistow Green Road, a short walk away at the top of the village.

FANCY DRESS
Prizes will be given for fancy dress. Think Hawaiian!

RAFFLE
See previous post. The “first prize” is a trip for two in the hot air balloon scheduled to launch from the Rec at approximately 6pm. If you will be unable (or unwilling) to do this, please tell the ticket seller. If the balloon cannot launch, an alternative date will be arranged.

Finally a plea. Please do not fly drones over or near the event due to the scheduled flypast by the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. This is one thing the BBMF have highlighted as being a risk to their performance.

Can’t wait to see you there!
